Session 69: Soul of Magic Report

General Summary

The session began in the Rust Monsters' hideout, where the party discussed their options before leaving with Eleesa to bring Elina, the girl that the party saved in Session 68: Accumulation Report, back to her father.   As they did, they met Rodan Hindiel, the royal protector, and again Silver and Lythril Dhinthas, the queen of Niduin.   The party spoke with the three about what they'd found out about the High Houses of Niduin and their possible connections to the Union of Love. Lythril ended the conversation saying she need some time to think and that they should meet the next day. The party then spoke with Silver outside the house where he told them a bit about the ritual that Elvalur Dorindale was performing. Silver explained that Elvalur sought to bind their soul to the weave, making them immortal so long as the weave remained, though he would still require a physical vessel to interact with the world. He then asked the characters what they thought about fate.   After that, the party went shopping before taking a rest for the night. The next day, they met up with Lythril, Rodan, and Silver at Rodan's manor and standing there waiting for them were 2 dozen knights of the golden leaf. With them, the party marched to the School of the Aurelian Oracles in the north west of the city. As the mages inside were saying the mechanism to open the gate was destroyed, Silver cast a Disintegrate on it, turning it to dust and letting them inside.   Silver then showed the party to Elvalur's office and told them that if the ritual were to be completed, they should destroy Elvalur's vessel and Silver would have a solution. As they were talking, something exploded further up in the tower, causing a part of it to fall and create a hole to the undercity. At the same time, an aurora of green channels appeared across the sky.   Now hurriedly, the party rushed past a experimentation lab before reaching shattered ritual chamber. There, Elvalur waited and engaged the party. Joining him were two masses of flesh known as Massive Malleables and two Fractured Souls.   During the first round, Maro Rei 'Sky', and Omen ei' Taure engaged the Malleables while Arten Veronica Lagurdo went after Elvalur after striking all the enemies with a Steel Wind Strike. Baradin Godchosen's magic was sent out of control by Elvalur. Eldon Caufield cast a Chain Lightning, hitting most enemies followed by Takemura Yoshiro firing a Lightning Bolt against two of them. To end the session, Elvalur cast a Meteor Swarm, badly damaging the entire party, downing Arten and Tash, but he prevented going down using his enchanted armor, and killing the two Malleables.
