Session 118: Tower Defense Report

General Summary

The session begins in a fortified tower in Cathrys known as The Torch. The party had breached the tower defenses and had gathered on the fourth floor which was an observatory floor that had three telescopes aimed downward, allowing the guards to monitor the surrounding areas. Standing on this floor was Brew, Cademon, Baradin Godchosen, Crystal, Hero, and Ugis. While the rest had been discussing on this floor, Kajafas had gone ahead to the top floor and could see a portal in the ceiling of the room.   As he stepped into the room, a magical sigil appeared below his feet activating a spell as a pulse of energy moved throughout the tower. After a brief moment as the others also noticed the pulse, Kajafas witnessed as the portal in the ceiling closed. Kajafas walked back to the observatory and reluctantly revealing their new predicament, Cademon was able to identify the spell as Gate Seal, which renders portals in its vicinity non-functional for 24 hours. Thanks to this knowledge, the party decided it best to not look for another portal, but instead to fortify and defend the tower for the next day. To help with this Ugis cast a Wall of Stone to seal the entrance. Thus, the party waited, whilst taking rotating watches to keep an eye on the surroundings.   During the party's rest, a group of Demodands approached the base of the tower. As they attempted to break through the entrance using acid, Hero struck the wall and the party burst into battle. The Demodands had approached while invisible, but Hero was able to identify them and one of them was revealed as the wall was broken. The Demodand in question was a Kelubar who exhaled a poison mist around the entrance that also obscured vision. During the battle, Brew was badly injured early on but was protected by Baradin. Otherwise, the battle was fairly straightforward.   After having defeated the assailants, Ugis brought forth another Wall of Stone to seal the entrance once more and the party resumed their rest. The following day, while waiting for the portal to open once more the part played 2 truths 1 lie:
Baradin: "I have no siblings", "I have traveled across Terracina", and "I have no favorites among the gods" (lie).
Brew: "I found Bobo when I was 15", "I found ruins with Bobo in the Carraga mountains", and "I actually need glasses but they are inconvenient as a warrior" (lie)
Cademon: "I spent a year living in the elemental plane of fire", "I have visited all planes of existence" (lie), and "In my youth, I courted a member of the fey court"
Crystal: "I was doing undercover work in Niduin when I was contacted by The Excursionists" (lie), "Crystal is an abbreviation", and "I have been doing detective work since I was seven"
Hero: "I absolutely love beating the shit out of evil people", "I only have nine toes" (lie), and "I can nine out of ten times tell what ingredients go into the food I eat"
Ugis: "My least favorite color is purple", "The food I enjoy the most is grilled Paolumu", and "I am a 5-feet tall female tiefling"
  The session ended with Brew asking Baradin "Does that mean we win?" as they had gotten most lies correct.
