Rewind

Basic Information

Anatomy

The rewinds are square creatures with flat heads, and at times large cheeks. They have rather broard shoulders, but no arms. The shoulders of the female contain a hole each. As if a small crater had hit both their sides.

Genetics and Reproduction

When a rewind has grown significantly, they might each put aside a little bit of their being, and have it grow like a parasite on the female. This parasite is a new rewind, and will take nutrients from the female as well as metal. The new rewind is thus bigger than it's parents. A rewind will stay as a parasite for two months. The average amount of rewinds per reproduction is two and a half.

The cheek process

Both genders go through a fattening of their cheeks once every second week. It starts with an increasing appetite, and they become a little more aggressive. The leftover fat will gather in their cheeks, set aside for blending with another rewinds. If nothing happens the body will release the fat, and it will rot away on the ground.
The fat of the male rewind differs somewhat from that of the females, as his tears much more at his health. He erodes at a faster rate during the cheek process, because it takes away much of his inner moisture, and a significant amount of copper. If reproduction isn't initiated some of it returns to him.

Growth Rate & Stages

The rewinds sart out as rather large creatures with big bulky shoulders. Though out life these are formed and rounded. The process is slow, like a tool receiving wear. When they are about a meter, they are considered adults. They will also start their cheek process.

Ecology and Habitats

The rewinds are able to live a vast amount of spaces. The biggest issue is temperature. They prefer to live in temperate or sub-tropical areas.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The rewinds take nutrients from metals, and when they get older from plants too.

Biological Cycle

A rewind will be most active during spring and autumn. They often mate in the early days of each season. Throughout winter and summer they tend to stay indoors, and sleep for longer stretches of time.

Additional Information

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

The female rewind may also house spiders instead of her own kids. In that instance, the parasite will most likely be on one of the children.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Re, Wind, Ind, Ew, Rew, Wi, Ewind... you get the picture.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

The rewinds are mostly capable of saying rewind, and thus their name, but they can communicate with each other through a combination of variable screams and gestures.

Common Etiquette Rules

The rewinds are to keep to themselves, and speak only one non one with another rewind. Interaction with other species will most likely annoy them.

Common Dress Code

Clothes aren't needed as much for rewinds, although they usually like to cover up their shoulders. The form of their clothes as such gets a form like a tube.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

It is rather hard for the rewinds to have a meaningful relationship with other races, because of their limited vocabulary, but shows of affection and friendship between a rewind and another creature is not unheard of, though reproduction is impossible.
