Operations to reconnect Fort Landing with the further inland outposts are fully underway, but the group headed north toward Fort Keys returned unsuccessful, short two men, and missing nearly all their supplies. One man was confirmed dead after a run-in with a vicious plant monster, but the other went missing in the middle of the night. Charles, Concord, Maeral, Bip, Mikhail, Tobi, and Sebastien volunteered to head out and find the missing man, a dwarf named Tirn Buckbrand. The party acted with all manner of speed, and soon came across the prior group's abandoned camp site, where they encountered the plant monster that killed one of the other travelers. They managed to bring it down with minimal injuries due to their overwhelming party size, and carried onward to find Tirn. Their tracking came to a different sort of plant creature, one which swallowed living creatures whole and would eventually digest them. Due to legitimately little more than dumb luck, Tirn was alive and intact inside its body, not to mention drugged out of his mind from a strange plant on his person. However, any wrong move could have made for a painful death. The party managed to save the dwarf with an intelligent magical maneuver, then quickly escaped before the creature could capture any new prey. After Tirn was nursed back to health, the party gathered all the abandoned supplies and collected samples of several flora to bring home. Among the flora samples was also a plant that released a mind-affecting fume, something that had apparently played a part in Tirn's initial disappearance and briefly sent Maeral and Charles on a journey of their own. They returned to Creston without further incident, Pulminov paid well for the samples, and Tirn was happily reunited with his family.
