Shortly after an influx of new arrivals on Redbar Island, a bolstered group of brave men took up arms and dared to take back Fort Landing, the one safe and convenient place where the people of Creston could make landfall on Zorolai's mainland.
Unfortunately, the undead that had taken the fort by surprise one month before dealt a crushing blow to the first wave of forces, with only one warrior returning to fetch reinforcements. A party consisting of Stor, Maeral, Cain, Fuzzy, Razlo, and Hunyi was hastily summoned, briefed, and sent to the ferry for a rapid response, where they were also joined by a hammer-wielding dog named Ruckus. The party opted to approach the beach outside the fort's walls using rowboats, and were surprised by undead monsters lurking beneath the shallow waters. They arrived intact, and promptly stormed through the fort's destroyed gate to lay waste to a hoard of undead out in the open. Upon investigating the buildings within the walls, the party discovered a strange aura that plagued their actions, and were subsequently attacked by a hulking ogre zombie. After a hard fought victory, they found the source of the aura: A strange wolf-like creature, black as night, hiding within the fort. Ruckus gave chase, running the creature out of the fort and into the wilds of Zorolai. Investigations around Fort Landing turned up a brief history: Days before the fort fell, the guards on duty began breaking tools, injuring themselves, and making uncanny mistakes, plagued by misfortune. The party concluded that the creature they drove out was likely responsible for these incidents and the fall of the fort when it was attacked, as well as the many lives lost trying to retake it. Upon their return to Creston, representatives from the Peregrine Pact and the OTC - Kalideth and Abbakus, respectively - recorded the events and debated how best to move forward. The Pact was willing to bolster the fort's defenses, but the OTC made a case for expanding colonization within the reclaimed safety net on the mainland. Ultimately, the choice would be up to their respective factions' leaders, but the party expressed their support for the Pact taking it into their hands. Their voices did not go unheard. Within a week, the Peregrine Pact began deploying many of its hunters to man Fort Landing, giving Creston a well-defended gateway into and out of the continent.
