Founded when three smaller corporations merged into one massive body, Pulminov Research & Industry, or PRI, began as an effort to revolutionize the world’s wider connectivity through new methods of travel and communication. Referring to itself as the beating heart of world industry, PRI has spent the past half-century investing into new projects, and has become a renowned leader in science and technology. Their most esteemed breakthrough happened unexpectedly, however, when a research team investigating the Blasted Lands around the Rift unexpectedly siphoned some of the broken energy of the Astral Plane into their equipment. The energy was tied to the weave itself, the binding force of all magic in the universe, and presented great potential. Delving down this inquisitive path led to the invention of the astral battery, a storage device that could contain the energy and redistribute it as a power source. Furthermore, spellcasting experiments determined that the energy could twist and bend the weave, much like metamagic, giving spellcasters a particular interest in astral batteries for arcane use. Some who documented the emerging technology, however, noted that Pulminov was dismissive about the side effects of its work, leading to some distrust from others in the scientific and arcane community.   PRI now devotes a lot of its efforts to technologies that can utilize their astral batteries, but siphoning energy directly from the Blasted Lands is extraordinarily dangerous, and the known ripples caused by the Rift that emit the same energy are not only scarce, but also less effective. An attempt to map ripple patterns has drawn the organization’s attention to Zorolai, where it is believed that ripples are heavily concentrated, and they would benefit greatly from a mass siphoning project. In a new partnership with the OTC, Pulminov intends to establish an operations powerhouse on Zorolai, with plans to relocate many of their resources when the means are available.   While the majority of Pulminov Research & Industry’s workers are scholars by nature, anyone with talent and the means to pursue a brighter tomorrow can benefit as a contributor to the beating heart of world industry. Even those who have nothing of scientific value to offer in mind can always find a place in testing. PRI associates can get their hands on emerging technologies before anyone else, as well as increased access to their troves of knowledge, and grants for magical field tools to more prestigious contributors. Given the magical nature of much of their work, arcane spellcasters can easily find special roles among their projects and operations.
