Solar Tubes

After the shattering of the Ferris world, the surviving populace needed a way to connect with other parts of their once planet, that were now visible in the sky.

Many researchers and scientists were working on solutions and while some were promising like cosmic drives, they happened to be too slow to comfortably let people move from one shard to another within an instant.

They needed a way to connect multiple shards at the same time with each other and let multiple people travel at the same time, something like a subway, but interplanar.

So, they were experimenting with mail tubes that work under pressure and are extremely fast.

Once they had the working example, the scientists needed to figure out how to make the travel safe next, the pressure in those tubes would definitely be a problem.

One of the possibilities was to have a suit for everyone, but then it would mean that you need manufacture millions of those suits for everyone and clean them after the travel.

Another one was to have the trains to act like that after the doors were sealed and have a decompression zone before letting passengers out.

The latter option proved to be easier and cheaper to do, so they got a green light from the Ferris' government.

Everyone was so excited for the prospects so the works began immediately, within the year there was a first solar tube in place and people would start travelling between first connected shards.

While people travelled much faster in those tubes than using the previous ways of transport, some experiences extreme dizziness after getting off of the train.

The creators of the solution say it is still in the early days and some improvements can be made, also the populace needs to adapt to this new means of transportation.
