For millenia, the magic users used all kinds of the teleportation spells or devices to jump around the world or even worlds and planes of existence.
While this makes them incredible and potent, it was also extremely limited and did not impact lives of regular people much, apart from random attacks of interplanar threats and monsters, but bear with me.
Mages never fail to try and explore more possibilities to tap into more and more power. Coincidently it always results in some major explosion, but never before as big as when the White Mages of the Arcanum decided to tap into the energies of the Astral Plane.
Usually when they do it, there are 2 possible outcomes, either they get immense power or they get killed, no other option, yet they always strive for more.
This time however was completely different, nothing changed for the mages involved in the ritual, everything seemed normal until they noticed regular people teleporting all over the place.
To their dismay, teleportation became mundane, when they attempted the ritual they endangered themselves, but with it finished, they endangered everyone.
Inexperienced people jumping across the realm, planes and planets, bringing multitude of dangers from beyond, but it impacted all aspects of life.
No one needed vehicles for anything, they could be anywhere in an instant, bring anything from distant lands and escape any immediate danger.
This created a magnitude of possibilities and a myriad of problems to be fixed as well, brave heroes were never needed more while merchants and transportation experts looking for something else to do
Many trying to adjust to the current state of the world, while other refusing the gift, blaming and trying to ban the magic altogether and calling for the return to the traditional ways of the functioning world.
