Horrorling Appendage

It is quite common for rangers to befriend, care for and travel with their animal companions, the bond between the creature and the hunter grows through their voyages.

The creatures play the roles of scouts, distractions and damage dealers when efficiently trained by the rangers.

While it is quite understandable for a ranger to become better and better at tracking and dealing with various monsters, they cannot compete at all with the companions.

Their senses and understanding of the monster's behaviour are at another level and because of that fact, some of the rangers decide to follow the dangerous path and at the end become one with their familiars.

Those hunters adopt the Horrorling, which at the beginning looks like an additional black bag hanging off to the side of the hunter's belt, but as the link strengthens the symbiote becomes more and more like a creature wrapping itself around the theoretical host, because the longer they are attached the more indistinguishable they become.

Apart from being extremely dangerous of a process itself, it is also unbelievably rare for a ranger to decide to be one with their companion in the end.

It definitely enhances and gives advantages to stealthily go through regions, it is easier to sneak about as one creature, which is important in the Realms Below specifically.

During the process the pair is vulnerable, before they become attached to each other for the end of times, they can be separated and receive negative conditions for the duration of detachment.

A true calling of a ranger is to protect the outskirts of the civilization from the monsters and humanoid hordes pressing from the wild.

And while typical rangers learn to live in the wild and embrace it, the Horrorlings embrace the darkness.
