Session 9 Recap
General Summary
The party arrived back in Saltmarsh, having secured Anders’ magically sealed box from the Emperor of the Waves before it sank. Their “guest” Krell teleported to the shore prior to their arrival and went his own way - for good or for ill.
When they arrived at the dock, Eda Oweland was waiting for them, and informed them that something seemed to have happened to Anders the night before they returned. He was comatose in the Town Council Hall, being attended to by Wellgar. Eda also informed the party that Skerrin seemed to have completely disappeared, having last been seen leaving the city gates. Eda charged the party with investigating Anders’ condition - because they were away when he took ill, they were above suspicion.
The party consulted with Wellgar and determined that Anders was suffering from some sort of poison-like symptoms, but they were unable to get a clear enough idea of what had happened to make a decision about how to cure him.
The party travelled to Solmor’s mansion, where they discovered that Skerrin’s quarters - in addition to being heavily trapped - contained remnants of Pale Tincture, a poison matching the residue found near where Anders was found. With this knowledge in hand, the party returned to Wellgar and cured Anders.
Unfortunately, the guards attending to Anders all turned out to be Scarlet Brotherhood agents. They threw off their disguises and attacked Anders, killing him before the party could put them down. The party begged Wellgar to cast Raise Dead - after bargaining with Xendros for the necessary materials, he did so, and Anders was restored.
Afterwards, the party attended dinner with their traumatized patron, where he unlocked the box and confirmed that Skerrin was Brother Salt. He asked the party to continue staying in town to help prepare for their fight against the Sahuagin, but also asked them to be ready if his former butler was located.
