Session 8 Recap

General Summary

From Goddle's Journal

Upon our discovery of The Emperor of the Waves, which proved to be much harder than I expected, we met up with Barney and Belgren who had been brought to our ship with the help of Scaron (spelling?), who then attempted to dissuade us from boarding the ship and getting the chest we came all this way for. He offered us 6,000 gold, but for some reason, we decided to go ahead with our mission. After saying goodbye to our grumpy butler "friend," we boarded The Emperor of the Waves. Things were kind of rocky from the start. We were discovering spider after spider after spider which never seemed to bother me before but I hope I never get covered in another swarm of spiders. I'm sure Ungir feels the same. While we were fending off the seemingly endless wave of arachnids, I heard a familiar noise come from the bow of the ship, someone casting mage armor. Upon further investigation, it was revealed to us to be a Half-Orc Wizard. He assumed we were with the Scarlet Brotherhood so he was hostile at first but after some conversation, he calmed down a little bit. He basically wanted us to take him back to Saltmarsh to let him continue in his quest to rid the world of the Scarlet Brotherhood.   After things started to heat up again with this Half-Orc, he fled the Emperor of the Waves to board our vessel, the Shadowquick. Then we all had this realization that he might be try and take our ship and leave us here. We had to find the chest with the blue aura quickly. Which is exactly what happened and not a moment to soon. Suddenly, the ship came under attack. These Gigantic, powerful, tentacles seemed to jettison out of the water and proceeded to try to sink the already unstable Emperor of the Waves. Strike after strike we could feel the ship sinking lower and lower.   This is when things got weird.   While we tried to escape the Emperor of the Waves with our prize in hand and this monster from the deep relentlessly attacking us and this ship. We hear a name called out to us, Cetus! This is apparently the sea monster that Neptune has been going on and on about, so in a panic, I jumped off the ship, but no one followed me. When I turned around to see what was happening, I saw Neptune standing on the deck of this sinking ship, pointing his trident at the sea monster. His trident then began to glow and it was as if he had calmed the creature down some how. The Cetus stopped flailing its tentacles and dove back to the depths where it came from, the ship along with it. After that we made it back to our ship where the Half-Orc we had met previously had made himself at home. I don't trust him, so I'll be keeping an eye out for him.
