Session 7 Recap

Ungir's Journal   While Barney and Belgren hung out with our new lizard and fish friends in the Hool Marshes, Finkin, Goddle, Neptune and I had a month of downtime shenanigans in Saltmarsh. Neptune beat people up for money, Goddle did some research and learned some dark secrets about Wishborne, Finkin lost a bunch of money gambling and I hired out the ship for work with Eda Oweland while making a lady friend of the local leatherworker, Kiorna Kester. The party made a bunch of gold by turning in the quests they had finished on their last voyage and upgraded their equipment in the process. Now everyone can breathe underwater and has a swim speed.   I also did a little work for Anders and in the process learned that the noble is not entirely who he appears to be and puts on an act to hide from an organization called the Scarlet Brotherhood. Anders suspects that this shadowy organization may be using Anders' family business as a front and may have even been involved in this parent's deaths two years ago. Anders has now hired the party to investigate a ship that was thought to be lost at sea but was recently spotted drifting in the water. The party set off without Barney and Belgren with assurances from Anders that he would make sure the two Genasi can meet up with the party by other means.   The party were ambushed by some Scarlet Brotherhood aligned pirates, led by Ned, a lackey of Gellen Primewater that the party previously met in the Haunted Mansion. However, the pirates proved to be entirely ineffective in combat and we killed them and took their boat. Ned killed himself rather than spill the beans on the Scarlet Brotherhood proper while delivering ominous warnings about the organization's power and reach, particularly their influence over Saltmarsh itself.   The journey should have taken seven days, but Goddle got us lost at sea for nearly an extra week. We finally arrived at the adrift company vessel, the Emperor of the Waves. Aboard this boat is a special chest that contains information that Anders desperately needs.
