Session 6 Recap

The party found themselves in front of Shaman Korth, the Kepesk Clan’s religious leader. After establishing that he had experienced visions from Semuanya involving Belgren’s face, he recruited the party to deal with a dilemma in exchange for his endorsement of an alliance with Saltmarsh.   Korth needed someone to eliminate Thousand Teeth, an ancient crocodile who had been terrorizing the Lizardfolk since their return to the Hool Marshes. He could not to this outright due to crocodiles being held as sacred by Lizardfolk.   The party set out the next day, after defeating a band of Sea Hags who had crept aboard the Shadowquick during the night. After a half day’s journey, which included a quick stop to ask a crocodile for directions, the party arrived at Thousand Teeth’s lair. While they stopped to think about their options, a giant snake dropped from the trees and wrapped itself around Ungir. While freeing their captain from the constrictor, the party failed to notice the giant crocodilian monstrosity swimming towards them. It leapt from the depths and immediately incapacitated Barney. Fortunately, the stalwart heroes recovered from this early onslaught and eventually laid low the corrupted crocodilian. Neptune struck the final blow with his Trident.   Returning to Sauriv, Korth’s approval in tow, the party was asked to ponder the nature of The Balance and how Thousand Teeth’s corruption might indicate a larger issue threatening the Hool Marshes. After some conversation about findings from the crocodile’s lair, Sauriv concluded that a dragon was likely involved. He asked the party to stay a week with the Clan while his people investigated.   At the end of the week, during which the party grew in strength and ability by training amongst the Lizardfolk, the party was given a name and a location for the dragon. Storm Eater, a young dragon, was believed to be residing in a storm of darkness at an ancient temple to Semuanaya on the border of the drowned forest.   The party made their way to the temple. After surviving an ambush from two strange lizardfolk who appeared to worship Thousand Teeth, the party arrived near the temple and set up camp for the night. They prepared to face the threat, having various personal reflections throughout the night. Ungir in particular experienced a message from Procan alluding to Sekolah and some other vague, Infernal threat.   In the morning, the party attempted to sneak into the temple, but were greeted by utter darkness. The dragon noticed them quickly and unleashed a blast of acid breath that nearly killed a few party members. It landed in the midst of the party and arrogantly dismissed the threat they posed to him. Unfortunately for Storm Eater, the party was far more capable than he anticipated. As fear gripped him, he attempted to take flight, only to be pulled to the ground and mauled by Belgren in his bear form. His last words were “Titivilus... you lied...”.   After the battle, the party returned to Sauriv and got the final approval they needed for the alliance. Korth, Krivcrath, and Queen Othokent returned with them to Saltmarsh, but Barney and Belgren were invited to return and spend time learning and living with the Lizardfolk by Sauriv.
