Session 11 Recap
General Summary
Sunday, 21st of Bloomfall, 876 SA
The party arrived back in Saltmarsh after (mostly) clearing out the Isle of Abbey. They showed Xendros the book of rituals they found in the Scarlet Brotherhood hiedout, and she was able to help determine that it could be used to dismiss the undead who were still inhabiting the Island. She also informed the characters that her scouts were following up on a lead on a rare artifact, and that she might need their services in the near future.
Indeed, a few weeks later, Xendros commissioned the party to travel into the Dreadwood in search of an Apparatus of Kwalish, which she believes will be of use in the conflict with the Sahuagin. She advised the characters to make a stop at Burle Monastery. The characters followed her advice, and met Kiara, the head of the monastery and a close (perhaps even intimate) friend of Xendros. They also met a Treant in a forest within the monastery named Wander Root, who captured Finkin's fascination immediately. Apparently Finkin now wants to either be a tree or make friends with all the trees. At any rate, Kiara allowed the party to stay at Burle for the night, and even offered to provide them with Monk training, should any of them desire to do so.
The next morning, the party set out for the Tower of Zenopus, where they quickly discovered that they were unable to use any magic whatsoever. They eventually figured out that they could scale the hollow interior of the tower using enchanted geometric blocks as a levitating staircase. As they slowly progressed up, the characters found themselves body swapped with one another. After a series of identity crises, and with some confusion, the party eventually made it to the top of the tower, where they used a magical bowl of water to swap back into their old bodies. They retained some a skill from the body they had been inhabiting, as well as a memory of how the the skill was acquired. With a newfound insight into their travelling companions, the party found themselves in the presence of their target - an Apparatus of Kwalish.
