Icewind Dale Session 14 Recap

Frostfall 6th From Akar   Right off, we find ole Xar the Rock sitting on a throne, so we engaged. But, no sooner did we start fighting him than a couple big ass frog things came barging into the room. Ole Zar took a few bolts from good ole Baldric and went invisible leaving us to fight the Slaads as everyone kept calling them. Apparently, according to Baldric, one of'em was the thing that killed Uldak, so they both might as well have.   It was a bit of a tough fight and a bunch of us bout shit our pants at one point, but we killed them.   We went to pursue Xar based on some insights from Val, who tried to kill us, still not sure what that was about, but hey weird shit happens. Fucking magic. I grow claws when I get angry and am fucking undead... Anyways... I started by trying to beat down a wall... didn't work... moved to the door... didn't work... Then, Val fucking disappeared and the door opened and there he was... fucking magic! Yet, there was another door, so I charge it and busted it wide open!   Everyone else joined me and seemed a little less impressed than I thought they'd be.   We moved on and found this room full of more chest bursting kill machines... Baldric reluctantly decided to start dealing with them, but then went absolutely crazy shooting them. We all just kind of stopped helpin and started watchin. Somethin weird happened to Val, again... and he started ranting about some temple to some demon or some shit... ugh... Wort and I kept an eye on the door into the kill floor/forge in case Zar showed up while the others looked around.   A few minutes go by and there is a giant blast of energy erupting from the room they went in, so I went to help only to find a tentacle-faced bastard dragging Zel's lifeless body into a back room... Then, some dick wearing robes, which were one fire, which I guessed was Val's doing based on the look on his face...   Baldric went after the tentacle-faced bastard and told me to take care of the guy in the robes. Gladly. Well, it was gladly until a fucking devil showed up behind me and then he turned into a devil when I thought I killed him.   I heard some shouting from the back room - apparently, Xar's dying words - and we proceeded to put a beating on the devils. By the way, devils? I thought this was a demon temple? I can't keep this shit straight.   The devils started running. We pursued. Bad idea. I got shot to shit with fire... Wort poured a potion in my mouth... I got shot to shit with fire... Then, with its final words, which I heard in my head, it tried to make a deal to let it go, warning us we should be more worried about what our friend's master had in mind for the Ten Towns. Baldric said no, so they killed it. Wort poured another potion down my throat. Val finally showed up, and Wort and Baldric both shot him a look like shit was about to go down...
