Voidstone

Voidstone is a black crystal, glowing inner violet energy with arcs of violet plasma.

Completely black, bright violet and featureless, voidstone was nearly unmeasurable by any known means. Size could range from a few inches to dozens of feet in any dimension typically coming in handheld pebble size to the size of colossal boulders. Any material touching it, other than another voidstone, was quickly destroyed in a matter of seconds; a being with great fortitude might last a little longer. Those who touch it typically die before anything can be done although if it can be given quick enough heartstone, vitality ether & healing spells above 7th level can stop disintegration.   Some voidstones were attracted to life; the medium-sized chunks would move in the direction of the nearest living creature while the very small and very large pieces remained motionless. Voidstones showed no reaction to undead & soulless but it did show higher power against spirit dealing extra damage & once broken would take even longer to regenerate.   Voidstone radiates a gaseous & paracasual substance called rancor, making proximity to the crystal highly dangerous due to the possible side-effects like rapid aging, infertility, immunosuppression, & cellular degeneration. Those who bear the blessings of Vigor find proximity to Voidstone nauseating as the two forces don't work well together.   Voidstone or rather the rancor it radiates attracts Soulless and makes them subservient as they return to their spirit, it can also mutate souless to bear necrotic abilities bringing the Null-Father's blood back to his soul. Mortals were thought to be incompatible with voidstone's energy but through scientific practices, selective breeding, & rigorous constitution training some mortals have been able to be imbued with Blight and have miracles that reflect the dark power.   Voidstone has rarely been seen outside hakainion the only recorded instance being the large voidstone that made the dead wind woods in gale, turning the woodlands into a dead, necrotic paradise. That Voidstone is no more as due to the efforts of adventures it was converted into Heartstone.   Since Voidstone is crystalized negative energy it's possible to return it to its original form thus causing voidstone to rupture & release its energy in a quick destructive explosion though depending on the size of the voidstone the blast will have disastrous effects as even a voidstone pebble can destroy a city block. This happens through blunt trauma from something that wouldn't be destroyed upon impact like an undead's physical blows or a Voidstone weapon, this also occurs through exposure to positive energy.   Not only do voidstone emit blight but a voidstone rupture will leave the area full of blight poisoning the area making it inhospitable for a time. Assuming someone survives exposure to the energy it has the power to remove the blessings of vigor and make it impossible to regain the blessing unless the afflicted is exposed to pure positive energy.

Voidstone was first made in the realm of hakainion as Khaois's unique spirit solidified into the crystal. Khaois's aspect mephiles sought to use voidstone but he couldn't figure out how to use it or touch it without being hurt until he used his undead and souless to use voidstone.   Voidstone was kept as a last resort due to its ability to emit blight upon a rupture poisoning the surrounding area making life impossible for mephiles to control. The only voidstone to be placed on zodia was in Gale to control the populace for thousands of years corrupting their woodlands and making an unending undead army it wasn't until the valahir paladin Sellfur and his party used the necropolis siphon to convert it into heartstone.

Voidstone was first discovered by mephilies as he traversed the realm of hakainion finding the unique spirit of his complete self.

Voidstone is used by dark factions to completely destroy their foes, vaporizing people and objects making weapons and ammunition to shred through their opposition.

Through the reapers it's possible to stabilize voidstone making it possible to touch for other forms of life as well as not emit blight.

Through the solidification of necrotic energy voidstone can be made as its plasma reverts to a solid state bypassing the law of entropy.

Voidstone emits rancor poisoning the area with diluted necrotic energy.

Voidstone will lead to the ruin of the surrounding area turning it black, barren, and lifeless.

Voidstone is completely illegal to sell and possess being sold illegally in the black market by those who can interact with the crystal.

Voidstone when kept in the mortal realm is stored in cases made of a combination of undead flesh & braecium to inhibit its ability to emit blight.
