Virulence also called the "Devourer's Essence" is an energy that is emitted from the Nianin & the power source of the swarm's sorcery. This gaseous, poisonous, & necrotic energy forces decay & corruption in matter siphoning life-force and fueling dark sorcerers. Virulence affects their users as well, inhibiting the use of spirit and miracles as souls of the user are irreparably changed.

Virulence remains for up to 3 hours maximum ending the decay once the time passed although rarely does anyone survive this duration.
