Liden Wolves
Liden Wolves are a race of fey-born wolves that originate from Primal Heart known to be large and vicious beasts as well as loyal companions are rare and taken as companions for those who manage to find them.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Liden are large and powerful wolves bearing tribal fey markings on their fur. Within their cells are large reserves of arcane magic making them resistant to weapons and elemental energy. This magic makes them capable of adaptation although this occurs in a small group of liden.
Genetics and Reproduction
The Liden reproduce sexually having a gestation period of 5 months and having a litter of up to 8 wolf pups.
Growth Rate & Stages
Liden cubs become a juvenile after three weeks, an adolescent after 5 months, & an adult after 2 years.
Ecology and Habitats
Packs
- Liden roam in packs of up to ten liden comprising the parents also called the alphas and their children. They accept any liden that doesn't belong to a pack so long as they prove their worth to the alphas. The pack hunts together, sleep together, and run together; they never do anything alone. The creation of packs comes when two Liden who left their original packs find each other and decide to be paired together.
Breeding & Parenting
- Liden alphas breed exclusively with each other although they do this when their pack departs once the cubs leave to make their own packs. The cubs of Liden are taught by both parents how to hunt and fight. Once they become adults the other Liden cubs leave their parents to make their own packs.
Hunting & Combat
- Liden packs hunt the largest prey they can find when no normal prey can be found they'll often hunt down more intelligent prey like elves and hags. They'll stalk their prey for hours until they find their prey in the open and go for the kill, going for critical spots to take down their prey quickly.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Liden need at least 50lbs. of nourishment a week to remain healthy. They typically hunt down deer and moose in Primal Heart never really going after people and other carnivores.
Behaviour
The Liden Wolves are hostile animals who rarely trust others. If one finds another being not of its own pack it will attempt to kill it through its howl it calls the rest of its pack to kill the intruder.
Additional Information
Domestication
Linden Wolves aren't especially hostile and can be tamed so long as they see you as their alpha otherwise they would simply ignore the handler or worse eat them.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The Liden Wolves are often tamed by Iralden as mounts and guard dogs. Other mortals take these wolves for the same reason.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
The Linden Wolves predominantly live in Primal Heart though through crossings many make their way to zodia many of them being tamed by the Lunalians.
Average Intelligence
Linden Wolves are fairly intelligent, being able to understand emotions and bond. Their aptitude for hunting is high as well as their sense of loyalty to those they see as an alpha.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Liden like normal wolves, these wolves have an excellent sense of smell, hearing, and sight, being able to track their prey from miles away and pick up on the faintest signs of danger.
