Bone Oni

99% of Bone Oni have a long retractable tail ranging from 3ft. to 10ft. long that is incredibly strong but soft & sensitive to touch. Their tails are covered in durable segmented, barbed, bone looking like a bladed whip, protecting the sensitive part of the tail. Touching and grabbing the tail can cause the Oni pleasure and/or pain so intense that they can't move due to the stimulation.

These oni have an innate resistance to the cold the opposite of the common oni as well as high physical constitution. These people have great vision in the dark as well as their signature trait their tails. Their tails are incredibly strong being able to block most physical blocks with training their tails can be used for a myriad of purposes. Bone Oni can produce a venom called "Ostosian", up to 10 gallons per week needing a month to recharge their venom. Ostosian once injected will cause immense paralyzing pain in the victim that lasts for hours, leaving scars on the victims looking like varicose veins.   Some of these oni instead of having tails would have a pair of wings that could make them very fast and agile in the sky. These wings where very weak and fragile able to be broken very easily. Some bone oni in the middle of their childhood have a 50/50 chance of developing Osteokinesis the power to control bones.

Bone Oni reproduce sexually having a gestation period of 6 months.

Bone Oni are toddlers after 1 years, children after 6 years, adolescent at 16, and adults at 18.

Habitat

  Bone Oni lived in the underground tunnel networks of the Bonelands dwelling the darkness avoiding the deadlyness of the surface.  

Ecology

  The Bone Oni are nomadic moving from place to place in the underground to avoid the predators in hell. They traveled in tribes of up to 1,000 lead by a head family of Bone Oni they where always tailed and chosen based on combat prowess and leadership skills. They had a simple lifestyle hunting and surviving until they could get out of hell.

Bone Oni during early childhood need to have their food injected by their parents to digest it once they enter adolescence they no longer need venom to digest their food.

During childhood all the way up to adulthood every 6 months the bone plating on their tails would fall off exposing the tail and making it vulnerable only for the bone plating to grow back sharper and stronger. Child oni have a strong impulse to sting those who get in 10ft. of them, this impulse fades in childhood. During the ages of 18 - 22 every 5 months a female bone oni would enter a period of heat that would last for 3 weeks. Once these oni get past the age of 60 their bodies decline it's harder to extend their tails, their venom isn't as potent, and their bones become brittle.

Bone oni venom also called Ostosian can be sold for 1,200 gold per vial. Bone oni used to be hunted by humans & silican drow for their tails making poisonous bladed whips for 2,000 GP.

The first generations of bone oni live in the bonelands dwelling in the underground. Every since 80% of those Teiflings left hell they began to live in Vanahiem and Crystalia.

Bone Oni have natural darkvision up to 60ft. & the ones with tails can sense vibrations through the ground through their extremely sensitive tails at a range of 60ft.

Old Age

 

The Osteosia Family

  The family of bone oni who built the city of Marrow, the ones who kept the race safe in the chasm and taught others bone bending. They lead the bone oni for 2 centuries before their deaths. They built their original culture and society from nothing when their human ancestors died off.  

The Willowvalor Family

  One of the head families of Marrow lead by Amren & the ones who decided to make a deal with the Venomir to learn how to fight for themselves and each other. They were one of the most skilled warriors in Marrow, founded the Blades Of Willowvalor, and where the ones who lead the oni into their campaign of war with their oppressors to gain control and avenge their winged kin.  

The Blades Of Willowvalor

  A force of bone oni huntsmen and huntresses who where very active during the surface war. They where incredibly proficienct in many forms of combat martial arts, guerilla tactics, ect. The Blades Of Willowvalor where known to be vicious and merciless never sparing any one of their former oppressors.  

The Greygrazar Family

  One of the main leading families of Marrow lead by Erons. The Greygrazar Family where a more peaceful family than Willowvalor and sought to leave the fifth circle of hell all together rather than control the homeland that caused them much pain. They made a deal with the demon merchant Gressil to get a way out during the civil war after the Willowvalor destroyed their portal. Through the assassination of Amren they where able leave hell and start a new life on Zodia.  

New Age

 

The Crystal Stingers

  A group of onyxian bone oni who act as an elite group of mercenaries who are devote to the Capricorn Familia. They are adored there for their versatility and devotion having many successful missions to their names.  

House Cromwell

  A family of vanir bone oni who where known to be instrumental to Hades's success lead by Ostegoth Cromwell. They where stationed in the Cromwell Monastery until they where wiped out by the Iron Angels.

Bone oni have very primitive technology forging weapons and armor from bone using osteokinesis to sharpen and harden their weapons and armor. Their city Marrow was constructed out of bone and stone sharpened and smoothed to fit their liking.

Bone oni courtsey others with their tails. They will always have weapons hidden and sheathed to avoid hostility in their own settlements and others.

Bone oni wore clothing made of bone fragments stitched together.

The culture of bone oni is one of survival and love throughout their torment with their original bone devil overlords and through their own hell full of deadly creatures the bone oni had to learn how to survive and keep as many of each other as possible.

Bone oni would carve either their names or the weapon's name on their personal weapons in the infernal language using their stingers to carve it and their venom as ink for the makeshift stencil. They would carve murals on cavern walls and city walls using their stingers to carve it out and inking them with their venom. Bone oni would inject their venom into their kids food so they could digest it normally.   They where known to give bone jewelry as a romantic gesture to others. These people where known to conduct ossification on their dead turning their corpse into a statue of bone. Bone oni teach all of their kids the combat style taught to them by the venomir.

Origin

The Bone Onis were born through breeding between bone devils and humans in the 5th. layer of hell. Since their human ancestors died off the Onis, sought to find a means of survival and make a place for themselves only having themselves for so long they left trying to keep each other alive. The 10,000 Onis all left their overlords trying to escape on the surface and but their home was hazardous, storms and tornadoes of bone shards and dust wreathed the landscape, the air was frigid enough to freeze others in minutes, sinkholes would appear randomly, the fauna of the Bonelands relentlessly hunted them. Bone Claws rose from the earth and would cut the Onis to pieces, Bone Ravagers would be formed from the bone storms would descend from the sky and fire bone shards at the Onis, while Bone Serpents would burrow through the ground and fire beams of lightning at the Onis. The Onis were killed in large numbers; the flying ones ended quickly via Ravager; the others managed to get to the underground to avoid the deadly fauna.  

Rise Of Marrow

  In the Bone Chasm the Onis continued their escape until they made their way to the deepest underground portion they could, staying there for years forming the first village called "Marrow" living off cavern water and fungi. Over the years some developed Osteokinesis and were praised for their power and others were born with wings bringing worry in the others. The winged ones wanted to explore the sky but their elders advised against it, they didn't listen and left the chasm dying once they got to the surface. This brought great sorrow to their elders making them vow to not put their love and attention in those who can't keep themselves alive in the simplest way. They remained in their village barring it from the Bone Devils; it wasn't until their population got too high that the need for more food arose, making the need for them to learn how to hunt and fight rather than run. Through another wave of crossings Venomir came from Nightfall to the 5th. circle of hell they made a pact and the Venomir taught their signature style of combat making them stronger and capable of fighting back.  

The Osteon War

  The bone Onis took their new skills to the surface and began their campaign of war across the fifth circle of hell. With their scorpion style, venom, and Osteokinesis they had more than enough to make the surface suffer for their abuse. Many bone devils died, their bodies mutilated and turned into weapons and armor permanently killing them as they can only die in their own realm. They made bone constructs that fire beams of lightning, sharp serrated blades from the claws of bone devils, durable light armor from the exoskeleton of the devils, & long 30ft. serrated bladed whips from their tails and using the rest as food.  

The Marrow Civil War

  Over 50 years the Onis nearly had complete control over the entire circle of hell although others grew weary of this slaughter and sought to leave hell after all they were alive, mortal and were capable of existing outside hell normally. Eventually Marrow became divided by their motives some wanting to leave hell & the others who want to dominate hell causing a civil war between the two groups called the "Osteos Discord". During this civil war they were visited by a demon who called himself Gressil once who could give many items and services for souls. He claimed he could make crossings to the mortal realm for the souls of their opposers; they didn't want to do this but it was their only means of escape. One night the leader of the bone Onis Amren was ambushed and killed by his brother Erons, his powerful soul given to Gressil. He upheld his end of the deal and made crossings to go to the prime material plane.  

The Last Crossing

  Once the bone Onis arrived in the mortal realm they wound up on Zodia after the war with the Soulleal where they were not well received by 70% of the population they were treated like real devils and hunted by many parties. The Asphodelians & Solgalians are one of the factions that hunted them as well as the Silican Drow hunting them to use their tails as bladed whips. The only groups that accepted them were the Onyxians & Vanir protecting them from the other clergies as actual citizens. From then on the Onis have been living in Crystalia, Vanahiem devoted to these new lifestyles.
