Near midnight on the 10th of Nuul, the volcano Korvac explosively erupted, sending massive plumes of ash and corrosive gas into the air. Lava flowed into the boiling bay, cloaking the island in steam. The sound of the eruption could be heard from over a thousand miles away. The following morning, a red sun blazed through the ash to rise over a devestated land.

The countries surrounding the boiling bay on the Dragon Peninsula felt the preceding smaller eruptions of Korvac, the volcano situated on the Isle of Fire responsible for the Scorched Valley. The general cloud of ash was documented to have grown substantially larger and darker in the year 794 CE by tradeships making the rounds between Kalzanzabar and Diamora.

On the 5th of Nuul, a giant eruption occured, followed by thunderous detonation sounds heard in Felawyn atop Fenal Canel 288 mi away, Raegos in Syrreth 480 mi away, and Vizeria in Eradin 870 mi away. On the morning of the 6th of Nuul volcanic ash began to fall in Northern Raegos with faint detonation sounds lasting until the 10th.

A few hours before midnight on the 10th, the eruptions peaked in an explosion of ash and fire. Three plumes rose up and merged. The whole mountain was turned into a flowing mass of "liquid fire". Lava flows cascaded down the mountain to the boiling bay on all sides of the island.

A large tsunami struck the mainland after the explosion. The earlier eruptions had alerted the inhabitants of Kaer Crecoa and Diamond City, yet still the deathtoll at both locations combined was thousands.

The devestation directly from the eruption was minimal in comparison to what the event marked: the awakening of The Red.

The following Year would be known as the Year Without a Summer as the ash from the erruption column dispersed around the world and lowered global temperatures. This triggered extreme weather and harvest failures in many areas.
