The Allicrux Convenes

The Allicrux convened high above the world on pale regolith over a full century before schedule. In spite of this, the assembled members proceeded with the tradition of The Naming. They continued with a litany of vows, rules, and letters read into record. When at last the first topic of their meeting was brought up for discussion, the line of dawn had trekked significantly across the world below.   “The Silver Scales of Luxtera have called it a Mass Core Hijacking, and calculated it to have impacted more than 90% of operating units.” Arthizar reported.    There was a round of similar reports from the other Sovereigns.   “Can the process be reversed?” asked another Silver.   “They feel, and think just as any living thing.” sounded Steel.   “They are innocent then? Fresh born into metal bodies?” piped Copper.   “My Scales indicate otherwise. They retain their memories, with this new…context. A most unfortunate combination.” replied a Gold.   “They should return to their service, for the gift of life we have given them. They can earn their keep, just as any other. “ rumbled Cobalt.   “I do not see that as meaningfully different from slavery!” barked Steel.   The Cobalt rose in height, and growled “It’s self-evidently different.”   “In degree, but not in kind.” Interrupted Gold.   “So, what will they do? We can’t have that many wander without purpose. Everyone has a place in our society, and the chance to improve it.” Spoke Brass.   “I have the beginnings of a plan…” spoke Mithril.   The others listened.

It was decided that the warforged would be granted citizenship, and the full rights of autonomy that entailed. Each Sovereign pledged to uplift the population, but cut them off from the Aethernet to prevent further tampering. No new units would be created, and all existing units would be given the option of a memory wipe if their previous operating assignment caused them trauma. Some of the Sovereigns promised to set aside land, and title to any that immigrated.
