The Emperor of Fire

Origins in modern time
As the ninth century began, in the wake of The Riding of Doom having come to an end, a figure, or creature, emerged from the Zhunese mountains. A dragon, great, and yet not so proud. An ancient red dragon, who had hidden away beneath the mountains ever since the age of Yi'long, the founder of Zhun. He'd hidden out of fear. He had seen his brethren, many far stronger than him, fall to Yi'long's burgeoning empire, and he chose to cower in the caves far beneath the mountains.   However, as news reached him of the fall of his brethren and their descendants, he mustered his strenght and left his lair. He would emerge to a drastically changed world, one he had only heard rumours of from the occasional adventurer seeking to slay the legendary Emperor of Fire, the name the locals around the mountain had given the mythical dragon living there. Incidentally, this was also the title of the original divine of the red dragons, whom also happened to be the grandfather of this here dragon.   Before his leaving the surface, he had been known as an especially weak dragon, at least for his age and lineage, being only a grandson of the true Emperor of Fire, and he had often been forced to follow the direction of more powerful kin. Now though, as he emerged to a world largely without dragons, he found himself drowning in arrogance. He took the name the locals had given him, and proceeded to wreak havage on all in his sight.   For six years The Emperor of Fire cemented himself as the tyrant of north-west Zhun, burning countless villages and towns. Yet, his arrogance was hurt even here, he found that the Zhun had long since developed weapons in case of rebellion from their dragons. After a few years, the Zhunese organised a full army, and marched north. They established logistical systems to keep track of his movements, and armed towns with massive scorpions and ballistas that would bring him down from the sky if he tried his luck with them.    Despite being a power not seen for hundreads of years, having been far more powerful than the last generation of Zhunese dragons, he could simply not stand against the full might of The Material Planes's most prestigous and mighty empire. This all came to a head in 808 A.R, when he sustained a major wound, and was forced to flee for his own life. He crossed the mountains, retreating in shame and agony, leaving Zhun behind.   However, on the other side of the mountains, he found considerably more success. Here he approached things in a more tactical way. He would not just burn everything he could find, instead he began to recruit from the central parts of The Anvil, a region north of Zhun. Here they avoided the many tributaries of Zhun, and instead targeted those not alligned with another realm, whether that was The Tenjin Empire, the Crests of The Coast of Chains, or Zhun. The dragon would carve out a small kingdom, primarily made up of raiders and bandits. He dreamt of conquering the whole of the region, and then marching on Zhun, gaining his vengeance.   However, The Emperor of Fire would struggle greatly. From sometime in the 850s A.R, all the way up until 1286 A.R he would live in a cycle of gaining power, raising an army of bandits and outlaws, only to then be defeated by adventurers, armies of the different regions, and sometimes simply his own incompetance. The dragon would barely escape from each of his failures. His shame would only grow with each failure, and yet, his anger and wrath grew with each as well.   During this period, the title of The Emperor of Fire became a household title in all of The Anvil, as well as the regions around. He was feared by most if not all, as he seemed like an unkillable threat that was always fated to return no matter how many times he was defeated.    The New Emperor of Fire - Yán Mó
1286 A.R, as The Emperor of Fire once more had raised a mighty host, and he prepared to once more attempt a takeover of the whole region, a man came to meet with the famed dragon. Though "man" may not be the right term for this creature, Yán Mó. Yán Mó was a planeshifter, and as if that was not enough, he was also one of , if not, the greatest sorcerer of his age. He could perform divine-like feats with flame, as his father had been an elemental of the plane of fire, granting him powers spurred on by his emotional instability.   A young, arrogant and ambitious, man, Yán Mó had decided that he would challange the so called Emperor of Fire, and so he did. The dragon scoffed at the boy, barely in his 20s, but was soon silenced, permanently. It's said that Yán Mó scorched the land for nearly 8 miles around the hill that the dragon was on when the fight commenced. Despite the dragons near-immunity to fire, he was burnt to a crisp by the incarnation of the flame.   Yán Mó would then claim what remained of the army (those who had not been close enough to the fight that is), and march south to The Chained Coast. There, he began his conquest. He also took the title of Emperor of Fire for himself, though he instead claimed to be a successor to the divine of the red dragons, who had originally claimed the title, not the cowering dragon he had burnt.
