The Chain Wars
Introduction
For centuries The Chained Coast has been home to a long-running conflict, which is known, by most inhabitants of the region, as The Chain Wars. This is a conflict between the many city states of The Chained Coast, who all send their slave armies to fight against one another. The Chain Wars are however very unique, as these conflicts are fought in a very regulated manor. For those who wage the wars, are all friends and allies in truth. The aristocracy of the land, or the slavers in other words, have their armies of slaves fight this war more as a game. Chain Wars are not fought for land, ideals, or rightseousness, but instead for pride, enjoyement, and prestige. Chain Wars
A Chain War is a conflict between, at most, six Crests (Chained Coast term for house). The conflict is divided into three parts, The Preparation Phase, The War Phase, and finally The Aftermath Phase. These conflicts were started after mutual agreement between two, or more, Crests, and then The Preparation Phase could begin. These Chain Wars can begin for many different reasons, but most commonly you will find they begin to either settle disputes between Crests, or in order to take titles. The Preparation Phase
First, after two, or more, Crests have agreed to begin a Chain War comes The Preparation Phase. During this phase other Crests may declare for either side, sometimes in order to build favour, sometimes for honour, and sometimes because they see great benefit. However, the main purpose of The Preparation Phase is to outline the rules for the conflict. It must decided what area the conflict shall be held in, how long the conflict is allowed to go on for, and what are the conditions of victory for each side. For each side, this is typically also when they begin to muster troops, and prepare their forces. When mayor Crests enter a Chain War, that is a major event, with thousands of slaves being bought, trained, and positioned. However, when smaller Crests head into a Chain War this preparation phase is usually shorter, and it mostly consists of positioning the troops in the battlefield which has been decided. The War Phase
As The Preparation Phase comes to an end, The War Phase begins. Now, the armies begin to clash, with each one doing their absolute best to achieve their sides victory conditions. Though most new slaves are bought in The Preparation Phase, it is often allowed to bring in new slaves to the conflict during The War Phase as well. This means that slave-traders will be looking to sell their slaves all throughout this phase as well.
