Bloodkeeper's Guild
The Bloodkeeper's Guild, most commonly known as just the Bloodkeepers, is an organization of fanatical vampire hunters. The Bloodkeepers are feared throughout Zlatzem and Sundermark, though in Sundermark they are seen more as legend than an actual organization. This group has indiscriminately hunted vampires and their minions for over six centuries.
The Bloodkeepers operate in a very unified manner. They prefer not to spread themselves out over large areas, with small groups hunting different targets; no, they operate more like a small army. The organization's members are incredibly close, with the group almost being like a nomadic tribe. Because of its extensive numbers and serious level of competence, the group typically only deals with great vampire threats, instead of hunting down every rumor in every little village.
For nearly a full century, the Bloodkeepers have been based in the northwestern part of Zlatzem, where they lead an all-out war against a king who had been turned. During this conflict, the group developed brutal tactics of war, and since then tales of their cruelty have spread all across Zlatzem. However, on the first full moon of 1306 AR, they finally defeated their nemesis, and their leader, Koschei Trith, known by his men as "Koschei the Deathless," impaled the vampire monarch with a wooden stake.
Throughout its history, the Bloodkeepers have acted in line with a "for the greater good" kind of mentality, and this holds true to this day. They are all more than willing to sacrifice themselves or anyone else if it seems to be worth it. There are several accounts of the group taking sides in politics in order to attain the support of one side in their everlasting war against vampirism. In many ways, they are more like a mercenary company than an actual guild of hunters.
Assets
The Bloodkeepers are a fairly powerful group, and that power comes from the abilities and competence of its members. Most members of the group are highly trained fighters, with a select few being well-practiced magicians—some with innate abilities and others well-trained. The group has also been able to properly arm most of its members, with many carrying magical weapons and potions. Most of their equipment has been looted from former enemies. As for their numbers, there are, as of 1306 AR, fifty members of the group. Of these, ten are children or teenagers who are still being trained, and while they may be competent warriors, they are far from the other members of the group. Out of the forty real members, eight are spellcasters, and one of them is an alchemist who brews many of the potions in use by the group; another one of the spellcasters acts as the lorekeeper for the group. From the thirty-two non-spellcasting members, there are two assassins, four scouts, and one berserker from the north of Zlatzem. The group has two lieutenants; one of them is one of the two assassins, and the other is the lorekeeper of the group. People in the group are called by their names, as members share close ties, like a family bond. When it comes to wealth, the group is not poor by any means, but they rarely seek out wealth, and they care little for it. Typically, people are happy to give them what they need, or rather they are scared enough that they do not question demands from the group. When that does not work, the group is not beyond taking what they need, with force if need be.Plot
The Bloodkeepers are currently on their way to Sundermark. They are pursuing the the vampire prince of the recently fallen kingdom. During the fall of the vampire monarchs realm they found evidence that the prince had been sent away to Sundermark in order to be hidden. Now they wish to eliminate this creature, not only becuase it's nature, but also because of their grudge against this one specifically. The prince, before he was sent away, killed their former leader, which was the true cataclyst for the all out war which was waged in the realm. They have sent their scouts and assassins ahead of the rest of the group, and they have during their time in Sundermark managed to create ties with The Dark Lord of Castle Katrach.
