Fither, God of Decisions and Progress

Domains: Knowledge, Travel

Description

Fither typically is depicted as an elderly weather-beaten orc with deeply wrinkled skin and sparkling bright-gold eyes. He typically wears nondescript and travel stained clothing, usually of leather or unbleached linen.

Personality

A carefree deity, relaxed, ready for whatever adventure comes his way. He is always willing to stop and chat, but not at great length, as the road beckons him onward.

Activity

The patron deity of those who travel long distances, no matter what path or route they follow, or how they get there.   Some believe him to be a patron deity of a sort of afterlife - a few souls who have died and been brought back reportedly experienced a sort of misty crossroads in their brief time outside of their living body. No priest of Fither has ever confirmed this.

Tenets & Ideals

Fither appeals to worshippers who have no real desire to settle down. He charges his followers to keep moving, always travelling, visiting somewhere new or experiencing something new.   Followers typically exhibit some of the following behaviors:
  • A tithe given to each crossroads, typically a coin or a trinket picked up along one's travels
  • Nothing in the world is fixed; you never know when you'll need a new perspective, or even a new home.
  • Bless caravans, explore exotic lands, scout for armies, record histories of distant civilizations.
  • Aid in the construction of new roads, bridges, tunnels.
Because his followers often speak many languages and have familiarized themselves with different cultures, priests of Fither are often employed as diplomats and translators.

Relationships

Other deities tend to view Fither's behavior as "antics" and brush them aside as no real divinity of substance.

History

Weygate

Not quite a realm of its own - the Weygate is what Fither uses to always travel somewhere new. Some eccentrics claim that the Weygate has taken Fither on wild adventures across other universes.
