Tlamacazqui Mystic

The reclusive Spiritual Mystics of the xenophobic Blood Elves, who ply the mystical energies of the cosmos through dance and profane blood rites

This is an archetype for the Wizard class for the Pathfinder First Edition TTRPG. The flavor text and abilities of this class are listed below.   Deep in the bowels of the darkest and most remote jungles across Zheng-Kitar, the Blood Elves of Tezcahuital practice their profane Blood Magicks in worship of heathen gods and profane idols long past - their priests leading the sacrifices and offerings to the spirits and the gods that rule them before massive ritualistic sacrifice bowls where living beings are flayed alive, their blood drained into large offering bowls with which the infamous Tlamacazqui Mystics lead their people in spiritual and mystical ceremonies. These mystics, whose experience and mystical knowledge make them equal parts religious leaders and mystical shamans, use the power of dance, rhythym, and sacred geometry to channel the powers of the spirits to evoke a wide variety of mystical effects on the battlefield. Though rarely seen by outsiders, practitioners of the ways of the Blood Elven Mystics are fearsome foes - skilled in a lost art of magic dating back thousands of years.

Restricted Access

This archetype, developed and practiced solely by the Blood Elven mystics who lead the reclusive and xenophobic Blood Elves from their deep jungle redoubts and towering pyramids and ziggurats in violent blood sacrifices and offerings to the gods, is likewise almost never encountered outside of Blood Elven Culture - not only due to the extreme isolation and xenophobia of the Blood Elves, but due to the secrecy which surrounds the teachings of the Tlamacazqui Mystics themselves; a secretive order of Religious Mystics who are careful to prevent untrusted outsiders from gaining access to their secrets. Consult your GM to determine how and why your character might have learned the powers of this archetype.

Arcanist Conversion

This archetype can be taken by arcanists, who instead replace their 1st, 3rd, 7th, 13th, and 17th level Arcanist Exploits. As arcanists do not possess an arcane bond, they ignore the alteration to the Arcane Bond class feature.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

A Tlamacazqui Mystic is proficient in simple weapons and bladed scarves. Additionally, a Tlamacazqui Mystic can wield a bladed scarf as a one-handed melee weapon.

Tlamacazqui Blood Magic

A Tlamacazqui Mystic adds the following spells to her Wizard Spell List at the listed spell level:
  1. Saving Finale
  2. Allegro
  3. Exquisite Accompaniment
  4. Virtuoso Performance
  5. Shadowbard

Arcane Bond

A Tlamacazqui Mystic must select her Bladed Scarf as the object of her Arcane Bond.   This ability alters Arcane Bond.

Scarf of Sacred Blood

At 1st Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic adds her Intelligence Modifier as an insight bonus to all attack and damage rolls made with a Bladed Scarf. In addition, she may heal the Scarf of the destroyed and broken conditions as well as of missing Hit Points by immersing it in or letting it soak up fresh blood - which restores Hit Points to the Scarf at a rate equal to 1 per round(Though larger or more powerful blood pools may grant quicker healing).

Tlamacazqui Ritual Dance

At 1st Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic is trained to connect the power slumbering within their bodies with the infinite mystical energies of the universe at large using dance and ritual movement. She may use this ability for a number of rounds equal to 4 + her Intelligence Modifier, and at each level after 1st she can do so for an additional 2 rounds per day. Each round, the Tlamacazqui Mystic can produce one of the types of Ritual Dance that she has mastered, as indicated by her level.   Starting a ritual dance is a standard action, but can be maintained each round as a free action. Changing a Ritual Dance from one effect to another requires the Mystic to stop the previous performance and start a new one as a standard action. A Ritual Dance cannot be disrupted, but ends immediately if the Mystic is killed, paralyzed, stunned, knocked unconscious, or otherwise prevented from taking a free action to maintain it each round. A Mystic cannot have more than one Ritual Dance in effect at one time.   At 7th Level, a Mystic can begin a Ritual Dance as a move action instead of a standard action. At 13th Level, she can begin a ritual dance as a swift action.   As ritual dances rely on kinetic motion and the utilization of sacred, mystical geometry to evoke magical effects, they possess neither audible nor visual components.   This ability functions as Bardic Performance for the purposes of determining how feats and spells affect it(And allow the Mystic to take feats with Bardic Performance as a prerequisite), but please consult your GM for final approval.
  • Dance of the Elements: At 1st Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to honor the spirits of a chosen element to empower its usage on the battlefield. While performing this dance, the Mystic chooses an element(Fire, Cold, Electricity, or Acid) - all spells with the descriptor of the chosen element cast by or targeting a creature within 60ft of her gain +1 damage per die rolled if they require an attack roll, or +1 DC if they require a save. Spells that possess the descriptor of that element's opposite(Fire - Cold, Electricity - Acid) take inverted penalties under the same conditions. At 5th Level and every 5 Tlamacazqui Mystic Levels afterwards, these bonuses and penalties increases by 1.
  •
  • Bloodspell Ritual: At 1st Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to commune with the sacred spirits of battle and blood to empower the spells of her allies. While performing this dance, all spells cast by the Mystic or her allies that possess line of sight and effect to her inflict bonus bleed damage with spells they cast equal to the number of damage dice dealt by the spell. Spells that do not deal damage instead inflict an amount of bleed equal to the caster's Spellcasting Ability Modifier. This bleed damage does not stack with repeated applications.
  •
  • Mazanoch's Bloodrite: At 1st Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to channel the rejuvenating energies of blood to bring about healing effects normally reserved for divine magic. While performing this dance, the Mystic grants Fast Healing to herself and all allies within 60ft that possess line of effect to her - allies must be living and possess blood(Or an equivalent) to benefit from this dance. The Fast Healing given by this dance begins at 1, and doubles each round thereafter to a maximum of the Mystic's Intelligence Score. At 5th Level and every 5 Tlamacazqui Mystic Levels afterwards, the base fast healing granted by this dance increases by 1. When initiating this dance, the Mystic can sacrifice a prepared spell to increase the base fast healing amount given by an amount equal to the spell's level. This dance can only be performed in combat.
  •
  • Dance of the Feathered Serpent: At 3rd Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to channel the power of the energies of the Blood Elven Heathen Snake Deities to alter the area around her. Each round the Mystic Performs this dance, she may select a number of squares equal to her Intelligence Modifier to alter in a number of environmental ways limited only by her creativity - making normal squares difficult terrain, filling squares with slippery water or blood, smoothing out areas of difficult terrain into normal terrain, and so on. She may even alter terrain that has been changed magically. She may also make squares impassable, but doing so counts as altering two squares. Effects created in this way end and revert back to the square's original terrain when the dance ends. GM is ultimate arbiter of what can be achieved with this dance, but it should generally not replace the casting of spells such as Grease - instead being more environmental and focused on creatively altering the terrain to support allies and battle tactics.
  •
  • Holy Feasting Dance: At 6th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to channel the gluttonous, celebratory energies of the gods on their holiest days to push spells past their normal limits. While performing this dance, all spells cast by the Mystic or her allies that possess line of sight and effect to her have their maximum number of damage dice increases by an amount equal to 1/2 the Tlamacazqui Mystic's Intelligence Modifier. This effect stacks with the intensified spell metamagic. For spells that do not deal damage but have effects capped based on the target's HD(Such as Color Spray), the HD caps on each level are raised by an identical amount.
  •
  • Sacred Steps of Itoco: At 8th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns the sacred dances associated with the higher spirits of magic, and by honoring them can augment spells in unique and power ways. While performing this dance, all spells that fire multiple ray attacks depending on her level(Such as Scorching Ray or Gloomblind Bolts) cast by her or allies within 30ft of her fire one free additional ray at no cost to the caster. For every 5 Tlamacazqui Mystic Levels beyond 8th, the number of free additional rays increases by one.
  •
  • Greater Dance of Elements: At 9th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic deepens her mystic communion with the spirits of the elements and can call upon their power in greater ways. While performing this dance, the Tlamacazqui Mystic emits a 30ft aura that causes all spells that deal damage of a chosen element cast by or targeting a creature within to become empowered, while all spells of the chosen element's opposite to deal half as much damage as normal.
  •
  • Dance of Divinity: At 12th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to fully and completely channel the mystic energies of the cosmos through the power of the most holy blood. While performing this dance, each point of bleed damage suffered by a creature in the same combat as the Mystic flows into her and is stored for as long as the dance is performed - when casting spells, she may add metamagic feats she knows onto them at casting time(With increased casting time and higher spell slot as appropriate) by expending a number of stored points of Bleed Damage equal to 2x the total level increase of the Metamagic. If she expends 3x the Metamagic's cost, she can add it without increasing the casting time of the spell. If she expends 5x the Metamagic's cost, she can add it without increasing the casting time OR the spell slot expended.
  •
  • Shroud of Warding Blood: At 14th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic learns to wield the power inherent in her blood as a mighty weapon to enshroud herself and her allies. While performing this dance, if the Mystic successfully counterspells a spell cast upon her or an ally within 30ft of her, she can as part of the counterspell action absorb the spell and store it upon her skin as a glowing blood rune - whereafter it functions as a Spell-Scar from the Magus Arcana of the same name. These Spell-Scars remain on her skin even after the dance has ended, and she may store a number spell levels on her skin equal to her Tlamacazqui Mystic Level plus 1/2 her Intelligence Modifier.
  •
  • Dance of Sacred Knives: At 15th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic's mastery over the sacred blood rites reaches its zenith, and she is able to inspire her allies to greatness by seething and boiling their blood with mystic energies. While performing this dance, all allies that have line of sight and effect to her receive a +5 Morale Bonus on Melee Attack Rolls, Melee Damage Rolls, Acrobatics Checks, and Armor Class as sacred blood rains from the sky to rejuvenate and invigorate them. In addition, all metamagics used by affected creatures are treated as one level increase lower(to a minimum of +0). The bonus to AC is lost under any circumstances that would cause them to lose your Dexterity bonus to AC. To receive this dance's bonuses, allies must move at least 10ft or make a melee attack each round or the dance's effects ends for them. When the Tlamacazqui Mystic reaches level 20, the morale bonus give increases by 1, the metamagic reduction increases by 1, and affected targets without spellcasting receive the effects of the haste spell for the dance's duration instead of the metamagic reduction.
  •
  • Mystic Bloodfeast: At 18th Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic's connection with the spirits of blood and battle become total, allowing her unmatched control over them on the battlefield. While performing this dance, all enemy creatures on the battlefield lose bleed immunities and take an automatic amount of stacking bleed damage whenever the Mystic casts a spell equal to the spell's level. All bleed damage suffered while the Mystic is performing this dance heals her for the same amount. Each time the total amount of bleed damage suffered on the battlefield equals the Mystic's Level, she may immediately cast a spell she has prepared as a free action.
  •
  • Dance of the Holy Offering: A Tlamacazqui Mystic of 20th level or higher can use her unmatched mastery over the sacred dances of her people to cause one enemy to be slain instantly as an offering to the profane Blood Gods of Tezcahuital. To be affected, the target must be within 30ft of the mystic and witness her performance for 1 full round - the target then must make a Fortitude Save based on the Mystic's Intelligence Modifier to negate the effect. If the target's saving throw succeeds, they are staggered for 1d4 rounds and the Mystic cannot use this dance upon them again for 24 hours. If the target's saving throw fails, it dies instantly as its body rapidly oozes liquid chocolate from every pore then is transmuted instantly into solid Tezcahuital Chocolate. This is a transmutation effect. Creatures that feast on the resulting chocolate are affected by any single beneficial buff spell of the Mystic's Choosing of 6th Level or Lower.
  This ability replaces Arcane School.

Versatile Performance

At 2nd Level, a Tlamacazqui Mystic gains Perform as a class skill if it weren't already and can use Perform(Dance) in place of the Spellcraft, Knowledge(Arcana), and Use Magic Device skills. When substituting in this way, the Mystic uses her total Perform skill bonus, including class skill bonus, in place of its associated skill's bonus, whether or not she has ranks in that skill or if it is a class skill.

Fueled by Blood

At 3rd Level, whenever a Tlamacazqui Mystic deals damage to a living target with a Bladed Scarf, she can as an immediate action control and bind the spilled blood to add more material to the Scarf - thus increasing the scarf's reach by 5ft for 1d3 rounds. This effect can stack with repeated applications, and each application resets the duration.

Rippleblade Augmentation

At 5th Level, any scarf wielded by the Tlamacazqui Mystic gains the Wounding Quality automatically. The bleed damage dealt by this property increases by 1 each time the scarf's reach is extended with the 'Fueled by Blood' ability - and resets when the reach returns to normal. Unlike normal, the wounding quality granted by this ability also applies its bleed damage when dealing the additional slashing damage to grapplers from the Bladed Scarf.   This ability replaces the Wizard's 5th Level Bonus Feat.

True Rippleblade Awakening

At 9th Level, the Wounding Quality infused into the Tlamacazqui Mystic's Bladed Scarf deals an amount of Bleed Damage at base equal to 1/2 her Intelligence Modifier instead of 1. Additionally, the Mystic no longer needs to expend immediate actions to elongate the Scarf when dealing damage to a living creature with Fueled by Blood - the scarf absorbs the spilled blood automatically as a free action for the same duration.   This ability replaces the Wizard's 10th Level Bonus Feat.
