King Honours Coaltongue Heroes
King Aodhan paid tribute yesterday to the heroes who saved his life and the lives of many others aboard the R.N.S. Coaltongue during Twoday’s assassination attempt.
The King awarded the Royal Medal of Heroism, the nation’s highest peacetime honour, to Duke Fulton of Test, citing the Duke’s “selfless devotion to others as he unflinchingly faced mortal danger to direct the efforts to save the ship.”
The King also praised Captain Rita Jones and the crew of the Coaltongue for their “professionalism and efficiency.”
Assistant Chief Inspector Stover Delft of the Royal Homeland Constabulary was also singled out for his quick apprehension of one of the saboteurs. “The RHC was aware of the possibility of trouble,” Delft told reporters, “so we had a squad of constables ready on board when the situation arose.”
Several other saboteurs escaped the Coaltongue along with the Duchess of Shale, who has been accused of masterminding the plot.
