Emporium Shop
The Emporium has a facade painted deep blue with the word “EMPORIUM” in gold above the door. There are windows across the front, but not much to be seen within.
A customer entering the shop will see a shopkeeper sitting behind a low table. The proprietor (an eladrin) will welcome the customer and bid them to browse the shop's wares, but there are no items on display. Instead, the walls of the shop are covered with corkboards to which are pinned many small cards. On each card is a fine drawing of a magical item, its name, and its price. The customer can find cards describing a wide variety of magical items. The listed prices are fair and usually non-negotiable. Upon payment, the shopkeeper passes through a curtained doorway into a back room and returns a minute or two later with the requested item.
The Emporium will also buy magic items, typically for half of the selling price for common items and less for rare ones.
If someone were to peek through the curtain into the room from which so many marvels emerge, they would see nothing but an ordinary merchant's office with a desk and a safe. No thief has ever found the Emporium's trove of magic items, and the safe only ever seems to contain petty cash.
On the floor in a corner of the shop there are usually some offerings to the local fey, such as flowers, milk or cheese, and bagels.
Welcome to the Emporium! Please, take a look at our wares. Let me know what you want and I’ll fetch it for you. Cash up front, of course.
