Cogger

“Cogger” is an epithet applied to constables of the Royal Homeland Constabulary. It refers to the practice of some RHC officers adorning themselves with non-functional cogs and pointless goggles. This peculiar habit seems to be derived from the widespread folk belief that troublesome fey creatures are repelled by such adornments.

Alternatively, some say that the term “cogger” is a reference to machinery and the industrialization of Risuri society, and that it correctly applies to factory workers rather than police officers; however, this etymology is at odds with the documented colloquial usage of the term.
