Currency

"Coins" are uniform across the known region.
  • The "leaf" or "green" coin has the lowest value.
  • The "drop" or "blue" coin is worth 10 green coins.
  • The "spark" or "orange" coin is worth 10 blue coins.
100 leaf/green = 10 drop/blue = 1 spark/orange
The obverse of the leaf/green coin is smooth. The obverse of the drop/blue coin has three concentric circles raised in the glass. The obverse of the spark/orange coin has three crossed lines in the shape of an asterisk. The reverse of the coins might be decorated with a picture, a texture, or a maker’s mark, but the validity of the coin comes from the glow of magic within them.

Manufacturing process

Currency is made by the following dual-wielding magic users:
  • Stone/Plant (for green)
  • Stone/Water (for blue)
  • Stone/Fire (for orange)
Each token is made of glass (melted sand) and infused with either plant, water, or fire energies. When valid, they glow with a green, blue, or orange light, as appropriate. Tokens that do not glow are not valid currency.   The coins are oval disks with a hole offset to one end. The hole enables the “coins” to be strung on a cord for safe keeping or to be worn as adornment. The magic within the coin, in addition to glowing, hardens the glass. If the magic is removed, the coin then has the strength of normal glass.
Raw materials & Components
The currency is made of glass that has been infused with magic. (See Manufacturing Process)
Tools
Metal forms for the coins are purchased from metal mages or smiths. These forms have shaping for the appropriate obverse in them. The reverse of the coin (which is face up when the glass is in the form) is created by the coin maker via either tools or magic.
