007 - A Story of Ropes and Bedrolls

15th Mirtul 1357, ctd.

The wooden platform you are on is at the bottom of a thin winding stone staircase that cuts into the cliff face. The steps are small, less than two feet wide, in places barely half a foot deep and made more precarious by the smoothness of the worn rock.

  They are faced with a cliff face, which Sarah scales with ease. Moldrig tries to follow, but makes a noise causing the steps to move, and falls. As soon as he starts falling, he turns into a stinkbug and flies to the top of the cliff.   Thoma follows and makes it with ease.   Loretta Testa falls from about halfway up and takes a lot of damage.   The group come up with the idea of tying rope to the top to make it easier. Loretta and Villiam Partanen donate their rope to the effort.   Lox turns into a cat in an attempt to make it easier for him, but he falls off. It manages to climb up, ties one of the ropes onto the two that Moldrig and Thoma have tied to the top, and steals the other one.   Lidia Orellana falls and is unconscious by the time she hits the ground. Lox uses a medicine check to stabilise her as they spend a lot of time discussing the best way to get Lidia to the top. They decide to put her into Loretta's bedroll, tie her to Loretta's spear before attaching her to the rope that's attached to the top.   Moldrig is watching from the top, but falls back to the bottom. He cures Lidia. Villiam pulls, Lidia and Moldrig to the top. Loretta gets to the top and pulls Timothée Calvet and Jan Válek up.   Thoma, who is now also at the bottom, ties himself to the rope with Lox as a cat on his shoulders, and gets to the top. Once everyone is up, they take a short rest.   Moldrig makes "special treats" which he gives to Lox, Thoma, Lidia, Jan, Villiam and Aurelia. Lidia uses it, but everyone else saves it, except Thoma who gives it to Loretta.  

At the top of the cliff, you find yourselves standing on top of another wooden platform. As you take a moment to catch your breath and look out around the island at the view, for the first time you see the rest of Zakkazana.

A collection of islands of different sizes are dotted across a sea of the most beautiful azure blue. Some are the deep dark green of forests and jungles, like the one you are standing on, while others are softer browns and yellows of deserts and others are whites and reds and greens and greys.

  It notices the mosquitoes but not quick enough to alert everyone. Everyone except Loretta, Niko and Thoma take damage and are poisoned.
