005 - An Explosive Arrival

14th Mirtul 1357 ctd.

  Lox and Thoma spend some time with Jan Válek on the deck, while Spurious Plotius Pantera and Lidia Orellana have a whispered conversation nearby. Niko Varis is trying to write nearby but is struggling to find rhymes for "fall". Timothée Calvet and Villiam Partanen are still competeing about being the bravest and talking about The Misseen. Thoma watches the crew and the captain, while the Lox listens in on Spurio and Lidia. He catches the words "information", "gossip" and "job".   Meanwhile, on the lower deck, It jumps out of the window. He fails to hold on to the rigging twice. Moldrig runs to the window and catches It with tangled weeds growing out the side of the ship. Mary confronts Moldrig, who runs through her legs and turns into a beetle as soon as he's out of sight. It manages to climb up the side of the ship onto the top deck and hide behind a barrel. Thoma sees him climb over the railing but doesn't see where he ends up hiding. Moldrig moves into the storage room and hides in a barrel of brandy.   Mary appears on the top deck and talks to Sarah in infernal. Thoma, Lox and Jan talk about whether they should worry about Sarah and Mary. Mary goes back downstairs. Thoma looks around to try to find the goblin, but doesn't manage to.   The evening starts to wind down, and people head down to their cabins. Thomas goes to Moldrig's room but everything is tidy, with no sign of blood. He returns to his cabin and writes down everything strange that he's seen. He sends a recording of it to his father using the sending stone, and then destroys the paper.   Lox goes down to his room and makes a dog out of a leaf. The dog will follow him around. He also makes a knight which will point at the nearest fort or castle. The Knight points forward, the direction the ship is going.   It creeps into Moldrig's room and hides in the chest.  

15th Mirtul 1357

Lox and Thoma head up on deck when invited to, to watch the island approach at sunrise.   It goes into Lox's room, and empties travelling supplies, cartography tools and everything else useful from his backpack out of the window, before climbing in and hiding in the bag.   Moldrig turns into a beetle and heads to Thoma's room. He tries to get into Thoma's bag, but Thoma spots the beetle and puts it in a jar to take down to the island.   Lox finds It in his bag. He threatens to throw him out of the window if he doesn't return his stuff. It manages to get out and finds his way to Jan's room and persuades Jan to let him stay in his chest to get down to the island.   Thoma locks up the cheskt and takes it up to the top deck for disembarkment. Meanwhile Lox goes looking for Moldrig, but doesn't find him and doesn't find anything near the barrel on the deck. He tells Thoma about It emptying his bag and killing a gnome.   They climb down rope ladders and get into boats. They begin rowing towards the island.  

The island appears through the mists in front of you. As the boats move silently forward through the water, the first thing you see are the tall dark green trees of the jungle, bracketed by the white sands of a beach and pale blue of the cloudless sky.   You hear the explosion before you see it, the heat of it hitting you and sending the little rowing boats lurching away from the airship. Or rather, where the airship used to be.

  They keep moving forward towards the island and land on the white sandy beaches.
