003 - The Fall of Elionar

14th Mirtul 1357 ctd.

Lox returns to the ship, turning back into his humanoid form as he does so.   Meanwhile, Elionar decides to try to get back into the ship, by tying a rope around the ski (badly) and tying the other end around himself (even worse). He jumps up, misses the window ledge, can't grab on to anything, and as he falls, the rope around the ski comes untied. He plummets to his death, thinking about the shame he brought on his family.   Lox hears Elionar's cry and tries to jump after him, but is too slow and too late. He returns to the ship just as Moldrig's darkness spell ends. Lox goes to speak to Jan Válek and Lidia Orellana who were both on the deck when Elionar fell. Lidia starts asking invasive questions trying to get a quote, but Jan stops her and steps away to talk to him.   Meanwhile, Moldrig is panicking that he has caused Elionar's death, having overheard the conversation between Jan and Lidia and Lox.   Thoma is ordering around the crew, trying to fix the hole. He has something of an argument with the gnome about not getting involved in the fight with the eagles.   Mary and Sarah usher everyone back into their quarters, missing Thoma who is still on the side of the balloon. He goes up into the crow's nest and fixes his gun.   Moldrig decides the best way he can help is by getting glue out of the captain's cabin. He turns into a bug and waits for someone to open the captain's door, but no one does. He tries to set the door on fire when Sarah finds him and sends him to his cabin.   He enters his cabin without remembering that he set up the bucket of water over the door, and gets hit by it. Then he finds another goblin in his room going through his trunk. The goblin introduces himself as It, and Moldrig quickly persuades It to help break into the captain's cabin with him.   While Thoma is in the crow's nest, he overhears Mary and Sarah talking, saying things like "should have known" and "the actor". Thoma waits for them to leave and then goes looking for Lox. He finds Lox in his cabin and tells him what he heard. He gets his map and compass out and they try to figure out where they are, but the compass is pointing SSE but left Cime heading North and there have been no indications of the boat turning.   Lox and Thoma agree to stick together and decide to see if they can find the map in the captain's cabin.   Meanwhile, It and Moldrig are creeping down the stairs. It unlocks the door, but Moldrig gets sprayed with ink from a trap. It sees the gold and tries to run through the doorway, only to get stuck in something like magic flypaper.   Lox and Thoma find them downstairs.
