Zaclanan Railways Class 5
The Zaclanan Railways Class 5 was a class of 2-4-0 tender locomotives built for use by Zaclanan Railways in 1886. The class were mostly used on local goods trains pottery and logging trains, the class however found a small neiche in passenger services running between Bayside and Sprutes Yard.
The class was designed in 1884 by Arthur Foster-Pitts for the recently formed Zaclanan Railway Company, they were manufactured at the Chagneux Railway Works starting in March 1886. By the end of the year, 6 locomotives had been and were in use until 1913 when № 24 was transfered to the engineers department for use on breakdown trains. The rest of the class were with drawn between 1915 and 1917 and were scrapped by 1920, № 24 was the last to be scrapped after being damaged in a head-on collision. None of the class have been preserved but the name plates of № 21 survive in the Zaclanan Railway & Transport Museum.
