Anathor Stormgrip
Backstory
Coming from a line of great dwarven heroes, Anathor's career began as an esteemed emissary from the Dwarfholds of the North to the Kingdom of Falinor. One day, however, Anathor was called back to Stonebeard Citadel to wage war against their age-old enemy, the orc clans of the Mountains of Sky. Anathor found his stride in battle and rose through the ranks to captain. During one particular battle, an event occurred that changed the trajectory of Anathor’s life forever. The records of the event are fuzzy, however, it’s stated that Anathor went into a cave with an army of 3000 dwarves vs 200 orcs and came out as the sole survivor. When Anathor returned to his home, before anyone could question him of the event, he vanished from sight. Some claim he was so ashamed of his defeat that he couldn't stand the sight of his parents. Others believe had become an orc spy and led his troops into the hands of the enemy. Whatever happened, the event tarnished the Stormgrip reputation forever, and his name has been erased from the names of royalty of the Dwarfholds. Since that event, Anathor has appeared in scattered cities east of Falinor. He mostly finds work as mercenary, and, when work is slow, as poet and songwriter. Despite his gruff appearance, many are surprised by his mirthful countenance. He will often make acquaintances with various types of travelers and tell stories of dwarven legends and mythical creatures. Content to leave his past behind, Anathor hopes to make a new life for himself, better than anything he left behind.
