Annuko

Anukko (or Annugo) meaning "beast tails" are a race of half-beasts of Ysanaf. There are four main species of Annuko in Ysanaf:
  • Fenniko (fox tails)
  • Lupoko (dog tails)
  • Rrko (rabbit tails)
  • Feriko (cat tails)

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dono and Annuko have similar physique. For instance, they both stands on two legs. However, Annuko's ears are located a little more on top of the skulls making their ear stands out. Annuko also grows tail for their identities. Every Annuko has a smaller build than Dono. Ferriko are the tallest and the tallest can grow up to 5'5". On the other hand, Rrko are the shortest. The average Rrko height is around 5'2".
Annuko are humanoid, with animalistic features, including distinctive ears and tails that vary based on their sub-species. The Fenniko (fox-tailed), Lupoko (dog-tailed), Rrko (rabbit-tailed), and Feriko (cat-tailed) have subtle differences in size and stature, with Ferriko being the tallest and Rrko the shortest. Their physical build is slightly smaller than their Dono counterparts. These traits are not just cosmetic but are functional, as their animal ears provide heightened hearing, and their tails assist with balance, agility, and communication.

Genetics and Reproduction

Once a year, Annuko enters a week-long estrus period. Female Annuko are known to change behavior during this time of the year. For example, Female Lupuko gets shy and hides from the male while Female Fenniko becomes aggressive and defensive. Annuko lays egg and the hatching is different from each subspecies.

Growth Rate & Stages

Annuko live longer than Dono, but their growth stages are similar. They mature by their early teens, but their regenerative and feral traits grant them prolonged vitality into older age. Though their physical growth is comparable to other humanoid species, they maintain a feral energy and physical sharpness longer into their lifespan.

Ecology and Habitats

Annuko are highly adaptable, living across various regions of Ysanaf. While they thrive in forests, plains, and environments abundant with wildlife, each sub-species has adapted to different ecological niches. For example, Rrko may prefer grasslands and burrow-like habitats, while Fenniko are suited to denser, forested areas. Their adaptability is supported by their keen senses and hunting capabilities.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Annuko are omnivores, consuming a balance of meats, plants, and fruits. However, their diet often reflects their animal counterpart. For example, Fenniko may prefer small prey and berries, while Lupoko could have a more carnivorous diet, hunting in packs. Their fast metabolism and regenerative abilities also mean they need to eat more frequently than Donos.

Biological Cycle

Annuko do not exhibit drastic physiological changes tied to seasons, but their behavior may shift with the environment. For instance, colder seasons may bring out more communal behaviors for warmth, while mating cycles are often synchronized with environmental changes to ensure the best chances for offspring survival.

Behaviour

Annuko behavior varies between sub-species but is influenced by both their feral instincts and their humanoid intellect. They are highly social creatures, often living in close-knit communities. Lupoko may form wolf-like packs, with strong hierarchical structures, while Feriko might live more independently but still within a loose social structure. Their psychology is driven by a strong sense of identity tied to their sub-species, with behaviors influenced by their primal instincts, particularly in times of stress or conflict.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

These half-beasts are not only known for their keen senses but also for their great regenerative properties. They can heal injuries quicker since they are more ferals than the Dono.
Annuko possess heightened sensory abilities, particularly in hearing and smell, which are much sharper than those of Donos. Their regenerative abilities are notable, allowing them to heal quickly from injuries, especially due to their feral nature. This is an adaptation from their beast-like physiology. Additionally, some Annuko, particularly those more aligned with nature, can sense disturbances in their environment, giving them a limited extrasensory perception of danger or change.
