The Red Vow
As preserved in frost-char of the Crown’s Inner Sanctum. Read aloud at each Watch initiation. Original believed lost to stormfire and beastblood.
Witnessed by the First Five: , , , ████, and .
We were the last five who remembered peace. We gave our names to the cold. Let them freeze, fade, and fall. In their place: this vow.
We watched the sky split. We watched fire crawl out of the ground. We watched the sea swallow the screaming. We stayed. We still stay. We will not run.
Let no beast go unwatched. Let no rift go unmarked. Let no death go unlearned.
By blood and ash and breath, we swear:
-
To █ when fear commands silence.
To mark each fallen with ██ and fire.
To hold no love above the line.
To speak the names of the broken, even when it hurts.
To never draw warmth from another’s pain.
To burn no bridge we may one day patrol.
To bury our doubts, but never deep.
To keep one memory of home and feed it only snow.
To carry the weight when others falter.
To never lie about the cold.
Our warmth is earned. Our blades are cold. Mercy is ███ and earned by frost.
If I break this vow, let the Crown cast me out. Let the ice know my name. Let no flame know my face.
I am Watcher now.
We are the wound-keepers.
We are the ones who remember.
We do not run.
