Golden Cathedral

An obscure site of legend and rumor for most, and a place of refuge and hope for the truly desperate who happen to be lucky enough to be led there.
The ancient cathedral has survived one massive cataclysm and over a millennia has existing within a magical jungle and has only had one long term resident for that whole time, Ari the Golden.
Due to the presence of the ancient cleric of the sun god Pelor, it is home to some of the most extensive knowledge of healing that exists on the material plane.
Ari is one of the oldest and experienced healers in existence and she has spent many years of her isolation writing down her understanding of medicine and the spells that are used to save people, she has also recorded her own versions of the known and understood spells, as well as recorded her own creations. The resulting library of books is one of the best and most extensive repositories of medical knowledge.
The cathedral has managed to survive for this long due to the fact that Ari's magic has maintained the wards and protections laid into the grounds when it was founded. This also results in the location being invisible to most beings even if they are standing right next to it. It is also unable to be located or seen with divination magic, and even if a being is aware of its existence they will be unable to enter its grounds without the blessing of its keeper Ari.
Those who have asked for the protection or aid of the god Pelor and have been deemed worthy may be led to the cathedral as it is one of the strongest bastions of Pelor's strength on the material plane.

Alterations

There is much about the cathedral that has changed over the years, when it was originally built it was a very small and humble temple created shortly after the founding of the city of Karmorth. As the years went on and the location gained its reputation as a place of respite and healing many citizens made donations to the temple which were used to expand its grounds and facilities. Eventually it was considered the largest and most beautiful site of worship within the city of Karmorth.
Since the fall of Karmorth and the creation of The Weald the cathedral has been surrounded by jungle that has been attempting to encroach upon its grounds and take it over, only by the intervention of Ari the Golden and her claiming the cathedral and its grounds as her domain have protected the site from the ravages of the magic soaked jungle and time.
Ari has not changed anything about the actual architecture of the cathedral since the fall of Karmorth and has only restored sections that were damaged during the fall, as well as planting gardens on the grounds with plants gathered from the fields of Elysium.

Architecture

The design of the cathedral is a sprawling and very airy collection of buildings, the primary material used in the construction is white marble. The window frames and fixtures are primarily made of polished bronze, whereas the limited number of window panes are primarily made of stained glass showing images of worship associated with the sun god Pelor.
Most rooms within the cathedral are small single rooms that open onto covered but open air colonnades which surround several open courtyards. Most of the courtyards are grassy areas with stone flower planters surrounding the interior space. There are small tables and benches beneath shade trees along with several small ponds. One of the courtyards has a larger pool that takes up most of its space and is a home for a large number of very large golden scaled koi fish.
The main central chamber of the temple is the one large enclosed room which is lined with rows and rows of carven stone benches with a massive golden sunburst made of solid gold embedded in the wall above a large marble altar. The long rectangular chamber has a high arched ceiling the ceiling of which is decorated with a very large and elaborate painting showing a scene of the golden fields of Elysium. The upper half of the walls have a series of very large arched stained glass windows that along with cleverly placed mirrors allow the sunlight at dawn to cast bright sunlight over the entire chamber.
