Narinal

-The Narinal   The Narinal mostly inhabit Krodin. The largest organized groups of Narinal are the Skar Nation and the Absul Holy Imperium. The Skar Nation is a proud militaristic society that has made a name for themselves as one of the more suscessful nations in Ylly. The Absul Holy Imperium has concecrated an area of Kordin to build a kingdom worthy of praise from even the gods.   These two factions tend to avoid conflict with each other.   The Skar nations focus on the Taneeri Empire conflict, and the betterment of living conditions for it's sizable populace.   The Absul keep to themselves. They have surrounded their lands in a thick, powerful shield. They generally ignore externa events, and remain inside the shield to worship Albus.       Physically, Narinal are tall with an average height of 2 meters (6-7 ft ...ish ) . They are bipedal and walk upright with strong legs and a straight back. They have smooth, hairless skin covering their body, and in a wide range of colors. Their ears usually are slightly elongated, and sometimes have single, or double points at the top end. Horns are common and can apear anywhere on the body, however the horns ordinarily grow on the head. Much like how a human has hairs scattered across the body, but mostly on the head.   The Narinal cannot sleep, but they still require rest for the mind, and recovery phases for the body. It does not take long to recover, but failing to do so can result in dizzyness and fatigue, eventually to the point where vivid halucinations happen as the brain suffers loss of function and begins to physically degrade. Think sleep walking zombies, but they are awake and chase you screaming things like "make it stop!" or "take my eyes so you can see what I see!"   Narinal have a noticeable connection to the Ectenic network, which gives them great influence over Arcane and Ley energies. Even given their connection to energies, narinal are hard workers that respond very quickly to physical training. Their physical strength is very high relative to the size of their bodies and the narinal are one of the strongest mortal races currently alive.   The Narinal sometimes grow horns, or Dread-Like tendrils from their head. The horns are usually a response to physical growth, as in with aging and/or training. The dreads function as antenna and enchances ones connection to the ecctenic network. These dreads grow as experience is gained from interacrtion with the ectenic network, and/or ecctenic knowledge in general.   The horns vary greatly in size and are wildly unique in shape. The horns are so unique, that a Narinal's Identity can be discerned by their horn structure, Like a fingerprint. These horns are a result of physical development such as aging or training, and seem to aid in physical development and strength in general. The horns have a special marrow that creates chemicals to stimulate muscle repair, making the Narinal capable of exerting themselves excessively before inducing physical fatigue or permanent damage.   The dreads are a result of interaction with the ectenic network, knowledge of the arcane, and/or use of certain energetic abilities. Narinal dreads are about as thick as a finger, and are covered with a lattice of soft keratin plates that interlock perfectly to create a flexible, protective layer. The layer has the feel of a well kempt fingernail. The word dread is a type of "slang" for these tendrils. It means 'Captain of Death' and originates from Maritime mythology. the tendrils are filled with a dense nerve structure that is capable of drawing in ectenic and arcane energy at a rapid rate. Resembling hair that grows slowly, the length of a narinal's dreads can show the level of knowledge and skill they have with arcana, or ectenic energies.   Sometime in the past, the Taneeri angered the nightmare god, who expended the energy of a powerful artifact to cast out all sleeping Taneeri from the realm of the dream. He sent with them the heritage trait "Curse of Conflict" , and they awoke a completely different species. These Narinal were physically changed to be repulsive in sight to any Taneeri, including themselves. As an unforeseen side effect, The form they acquired was rather aesthetically pleasing to many mortals. The curse keeps them out of the dream realm entirely, as Narinal cannot sleep or dream. ((Immunity to certain fear and sleep effects))     =============================   Disjointed stuff below. condensed from notes. like condensed soup, or orange juice. but lore.     Narinal are instinctively adverse to trusting other species. The Curse of Conflict makes them genuinely difficult to deal with in a "politically correct" manner. They will get slight nausea from the sight of a taneeri, and the two species have a repulsive stink that seems to infest the nose of the other. That said, Narinal are not uncommon outside Krodin, and have become one of the major players in world events. they are considered to be gorgeous by some mortal races, and have used this to get into the business of many a people and the nations they inhabit.   Because of the various processes that led to the creation of the Narinal. from taneeri, to nightmares of themselves, to being thrown out of the dream realm, to becoming a whole different species. they have been signifigantly changed several times and thus developed strange and unique abilities, some of wich should not be available to mortals such as arcana and Ley compatibilities. The narinal are as well connected and capable as the fae themselves at using arcana and ley energies. Of the extremely few mortals that are alowed into lysanthir, over half are Narinal.   Narinal can be rendered unconcious by blunt force or chemicals/potions, but are immune to certain sleep effects. The brain chemistry also makes them immune to chemically induced fear. such as jump scares, or witnesing a deep water or large animal. There are also certain species that emit pheremones that can induce fear, and the narinal are immune to this. they can be affected by mental and psyche types of fear.   The Narinal are skilled with Nitrogemancy, a type of elemental fire manipulation. it is tradition for Skar Nation narinal of all ages, stratum, and creed to be trained in martial arts. this enhances mental performance, a good form of physical training, and to pursuse the Skar mentality of being a military society. This being is one that is difficult to seige, as even the children can throw down. Basic fire abilities are easy for narinal, while heavier abilities require dedicated training. narinal provide some of the best nitrogemancers within the confines of mortality.
