Hell Gates
These Nine gates are similar to the entropy towers of Ylly , but for the demonic realms. They dictate the rules of the realms, and maintain the stability of demonic existence.
These gates can be "opened" from almost anywhere, and are the foundations of demonic abilities and demonic existence in general.
Hell Gate : Wrath
Similar to the obliterate tower, Wrath provides the immense amount of energy needed to maintain an entire realm.
This gate is the physical embodiment of a prison designed to cause existential suffering for it's prisoners. Torment that surpasses the coporeal concepts of pain was inflicted upon the corrupted primordial within. This god of hatred has existence predating time itself. His hatred never had any wrath nor rage until he was corrupted by the demons. Now he writhes forever while his SoulForce is burned away as fuel for the Gates in general.
Unlike most Gates, Wrath can be opened in many locations at once. It is a multifaceted machinism meant to empower Demonic constructs and Demonic abilities in general.
Hell Gate : Lust
This gate embodies hunger. Hunger for knowledge. Hunger for power. Hunger for physicality. For beauty. For pain. Any desire of thought or being is fulfilled by the machinisms of this gate. The concept of "desire" is similar to something taking the path of least resistance in our world. If you place a stone on a hill, it shall "desire" to roll down the hill.
The lust gate "records and enforces" these rules of the realms, allowing for the concept of "want" within the demonic realms.
Hell Gate: Deceit
This gate is the official entrance to the demonic realms. It has very little purpose beyond creating an anchor point within our universe to allow translocation of entities and energies from one realm to the other.
Deceit is a semi-sentient Gate, and peeks at the anchor location. It then creates a portal between the two realms, but disguised as something inconspicuous such as a tree or kitchen door.
Deceit is a semi-sentient Gate. It can open itself to anywhere of it's own accord. Driven to fulfill it's creator's designs, this Gate has become rather effective at "predicting" when and where it will be used. It opens itself, sometimes before even needing to be told to.
Hell Gate : Glutton
This wacky gate is the similar to the Greed gate, but functions in reverse. It cannot be opened from inside the demonic realms. it can only be opened into the demonic realms from the outside. This gate "breathes" energy in and out, and is constantly starved for breath. Opening this gate can be dangerous as it might suck the energy of the area dry, but it also allows skilled demons direct and unfettered access to the power of hell. This is needed to use some higher end abilities while not in their realm of origin.
Glutton and Greed are the two gates that facilitate energy balance by creating a "one way flow" to circulate energy between our two realms.
Hell Gate : Pride
A gate that allows the demonic mind to function properly when afflicted by the instability of our universe. This gate is one of the few that does not resemble an actual gateway of any kind. It consists of a network of "fonts" that act as access points throughout reality, allowing the use of demonic abilities outside the demonic realms.
"Opening" a pride gate is not something that can be easily done, but most members of the actual Pantheon can indeed open these and have full access to their immense being from almost anywhere in any existence.
Hell Gate : Greed
Similar to glutton, but operating in the exact opposite fashion. This gate can only be opened from the demonic side, and can only be opened into our universe. The result is the ability to tap into energies and abilities from our universe, and use them in the demonic realms.
Greed and Glutton are the two gates that facilitate energy balance by creating a "one way flow" to circulate energy between our two realms.
Hell Gate : Vain
This rather superfluous gate is more a mirror than a gate. When summoned it can help a demon make minor alterations to their physical appearance. This gate will not appear before those who are deeply content with their aesthetical presentation. This gate always knows, even if the summoner does not. Some who believe themselves to be vain come to realize the truth of themselves when they fail to summon the gate. Some who believe themselves content with their being might be surprised to learn they can summon this Gate, clearly denoting a discontent with their physical form.
It's not technicaly involved with the structure or function of the Demonic Realms, but it is certainly one of the more commonly used Gates.
Hell Gate : Sloth
The sloth signifies silence and stability. Stagnicity and stillness. The effects of Abyssal energies are inherently cataclysmicly destructive to the energies of our universe. Being children of both all-gods is therefore a contradictory existence that requires constant maintenance. The sloth significantly slows the degradation caused by the two energies interacting, and allows for a much more stable existence within the demonic realms.
This gate can be easily opened within the demonic realms if an entity is capable of the power requirements, however summoning this gate from outside the demonic realms takes some doing. The benefit of having a Sloth Gate in the area is the reduction to the damage cause by corruptive energies. DemonSoul terraforms reality into a hellscape, and SoulForce from our universe is like huffing ash to a Demon. Intrusions by a Demonic entity is therefore recognizable to those who know what DemonSoul feels like, and easily findable by heading twords a visible corruption that tints even the sky. Sloth will prevent this type of effect from getting out of control, minimizing the impact of demonic activity within reality and dramatically curtailing the detectable damage.
The Sloth is a unique gate in the sense it has a TrueForm. A demonic manifestation of the actual animal, called by the animal's true name. Most can only summon the gate in an area. This is normally more than enough to fulfill normal operations. However entities with the type of power levels found within the pantheon can fully open this Gate, allowing the actual Sloth to come through. This deified primal can completely halt the linear progression of events in a localized area. This effectively freezes time and allows demonic entities to interact with the coporeal realms without any meaningful resistance.
When the Sloth is released in the Demonic Realms, it will seek out foreign energies and halt the progression of events within them. This state is harmless to a demon, but instantly destroys anything reliant on linear events to maintain cohesion. In the demonic realms the passage of events is a bit more complicated, and the concepts of past and future are relevant here. Thought and being can be frozen in time forever, becoming little more than an unthinking memory trapped in the past.
The Ninth Gate
Called simply The Ninth Gate, this is both a doorway and a realm. This realm of a gate contains the highest seats of power within the realms. Capable of capacitating fathomless bursts of SoulForce, The Demonic Pantheon reside here. These insanely powerful beings were once the primordials of the first iteration, corrupted by the abyss. With beings and thoughts incomprehensible to mortality, The Ninth Gate contains the physical representations of their bodies : Planets of sheer will. Usually barren and unpopulated, these massive celestial objects inflict the magnitudes of their beings upon the lesser Demonic realms, crushing them into a single reality as if pulled together by gravity.
The Ninth Gate and the mechanics of it's subrealms create a layered system of realms traversable through stairway-like portals. Each if these realms is the source of power for one of the gates, and each realm has its own unique biome and theme. Ruled by the upper echelons of society, and governed by a council chosen by the patron deity of that specific realm layer (badly worded) .
Because there are nine levels of a realm referred to as hell and populated by beings misconstrued as demons from many religious and mythological belief systems, the concept of the Ninth Gate is a concept that reinforces the belief by most of mortality that the demonic realms are the destination for souls that have committed extreme heresies. While this is untrue in actuality, the stigmatic misconception is impossible to combat.
