Summer Camp is just around the corner!! Gosh, I can't believe it!. It's time to get ready for one of the most amazing moments of the year, one that have brought me plenty of joy and fond memories. It has been I think four years since shy Deivi began his first SummerCamp in 2021, that year I got the bronze badge and since then, gold has been the colour or metal, if you like, of my badges, something that I want to achieve this year as well (despite always saying that my main goal is to get the silver one). Now it's time to think what things you'll discover in Yeia this year!.
Week 1
Think about ways the theme of Nourishment affects your world. Do people generally have what they need? What happens when they don’t?
Those are good questions, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Grain Doll for the city of
Blati. The capital of the Blatian Empire is the biggest city in the world, and Emperors need to keep the people feed and happy if they want to keep their heads and their throne. The supply of grain to the city is indeed a monumental task and it needs its own branch of the civil service to deal with it. The distribution of food is an old political and propaganda tool for Ikarian/Blatian Emperors and during public ceremonies like religious processions and games they will offer food for the masses of the capital.
Nourishment can also refer to the "Nourishment of the Soul", aka religious needs as I understand it, so it is time to talk about...RITUALS, I love writing about them and the symbolism behind it and how they shape and affect people in their everyday lives. People in Yeia , regardless of their religion belief that religious rituals are essential to preserve harmony between the mortal realm and the divine, and also, through them, they may achieve the god's favour for their everyday problems.
Speaking about nourishment and gods some religious rituals depending on the religion involve offering food to the gods, either burning it at the altar or lefting the food at one side of it. Gods might be inmortal, but they need to be feed nonetheless!! .
There is also a
Sun Elf festival, well in fact, the most important, Howazd, which is the most important for them, and that involves food as well, so if the prompt is suitable I might use it to write about this beautiful event!.
Pledge
My goal for this SC remains the same, first silver, and then gold, and, if possible I'd like to reach Diamond this year, since I'll probably have more time to write that the previous years, it would also depend of the ammount of art I want to do for SC and its complexity.
If you found any outdated articles in your world, update the most important ones now! Do the same with your worldbuilding meta.
There are quite a bit of outdated articles regarding some parts of Yeia's lore (mostly regarding characters, event or dates), so, perhaps this is something I should do in the week prior to the beginning of SC, for example Tynen's
June-y Through Time is a perfect oportunity to update my History of the Seris people timeline!. I've worked on some of them already, for example the
Snow Elves article was redone and I'm very happy with the result, as well as the art I created for it. Many of this articles are also "outdated" in the sense that many of them were done when I had 0 knowledge of CSS, so redoing many of them would be a pretty long challenge indeed!.
The meta also needs to be updated but this is the same problem I face each year as I'm constantly updating and adding new things to Yeia!!.
Week 2
Look at the cultures and areas you’ll focus on for Summer Camp, and think about how their past shaped them.
As many of you already know History is one of my passions, and I love writing and talking about the history of the nations and cultures of Yeia.
A couple of ideas went through my mind while thinking about this assignment. The first one were the Blatians. Though I already wrote about them and their Ikarian forebears (in fact the Blatians still call themselves Ikarians to add more confusion, although they rightfully do so) I've never explained Ikaria's rise to glory becoming the largest and most powerful state in the continent of Teria (leaving a profound influence there still visible today). Ironically I already made mention of its demise, but not their conquest and feats which have shaped their descendants many centuries later.
If we also talked about the Blatians we have to talk also about their other ancestors; the Kallian people, distant cousins to Ikarians, Seris, Oronai and Crorai (being davidovian peoples themselves), they were the main allies and enemies as well of the Ikarians during their expansion, and the modern Blatian are the result of the interaction and union of both peoples. You can't understand some traditions, words or religious ceremonies of the Blatians only by studying the ancient Ikarian traditions because of them are routed in deep and ancient Kallian history, and the fertility of the Kallian Plains and the regions nearby Blati cannot be understood without the inmense irrigation and canal system created by the lords of water, the Kallian peoples.
Another idea of rooting in history are Dynasties, especially Seris and Sun Elf Dynasties. While the Seris only have 4 imperial dynasties in history (including the foreign Mervadid Dynasty who ruled the southern part of the country for a century), the
Kingdom of Unhelion has more than 6, expanding over the course of more than 5000 years of history!. Due to that, in both realms each dynasty has contributed something to their literature, culture, traditions, politics, philosophy and religion, so a prompt like that would be a great moment to talk about some of them!.
Go to your world’s homepage and imagine you’re a new reader discovering the setting for the first time. What should you change to make the experience more engaging?
The introduction needs some adjustments, especially while describing the vibes of the world, and I'll also display the map in a more prominent position. I should probably also change the font as well to give the newcommers the "Ancient World/Classical Antiquity" vibes. The introduction article and the Meta are a good place to "inmerse" yourself in Yeia for the first time. Also the art in the background is a good indicator of what type or art you might encounter in my articles.
Find your earliest worldbuilding project. What mistakes did you make that you want to avoid? What good ideas from those early days can you integrate into your current project? Remember to take a moment to be proud of how far you've come!
Knowing where you came from and how you've evolved is really important. The first article I can remember was the
Seris Empire and my god , I edited not long ago and now the article looks so much better!! .
Crysanthos, the veteran warrior was one of the first I submitted to a challenge and I remember I was suprised because 5 people like it! . The one article I think that was like my "presentation" to the WA community was
Armor and weapons of the Namru all of this articles were written back in 2021!.
Back in the day I didn't know what CSS or BBcode ( I even thought that those cool decorations on the articles were like a paid feature...gosh it's embarrasing to tell you that haha), but thanks to my WA friends I managed to learn some CSS wizardry!. So most of these early articles are really basic, plain, paragraphs are usually veeery long and many of these articles can be a bit difficult to read . I didn't use the sidebar back in the day, something that I learn to do over time and of course...I learned over time that quality is better than quantity, that sometimes the most liked and praised article is not the one with 3000 o so words, but the ones with detailed and organized layout and information, the ones where people can see your hype while writing it. Also the art, something that I'm very proud of is my art, especially watching its evolution over these 4 years!.
As an example of this, on the left is the first drawing I made for WA (for
Armor and weapons of the Namru), and on the right is the latest drawing I made (for the
Tyrin, the messenger of the gods

by Callyxtus

Tyrin in humanoid form by Callyxtus
One day I'll redo the Namru drawing or add another one and left this as a nice reminder of my beginnings in Worldanvil!.
Week 3
What transformations and adaptations have the people in your world gone through? What changes are going on right now… and who is trying to stop them?
An example of transformations or adaptations could be the Snow Elves and how they used magic and technology to survive in these col regions where they live. Another example of transformation and adaptation would be the military reforms undertaken by the Ikarians after their dissastrous war against the Seris in the 3rd century AP. These reforms transformed the army, both in its organization as well as its apearance. equipment and fighting style.
Regarding what changes are happening nowadays and who is trying to stop them, well.... on one side you've the growing threat of dark forces experienced during the last couple of centuries. Dark Elves, Orcs, Goblings, Evil Tieflings are resuming their activities attacking and harassing both human, dwarf and light elf realms, many consider this as the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Yemmuist and Reformed Church faiths. Because of this, some states have suggested forming stable alliances to try to resist and fight back this new threat.
Choose a new genre, style, or author, and take a look at their art! Write what you learned from them and what inspired you.
I don't know if this means an artist from outside WA, but if that's so I've been looking at Ryoko Kui's (the creator of Dungeon Meshi/ Delicious in Dungeon) gorgeous art, I've the artbook of the anime series and I've to say that I got TONS of inspiration from it!. Especially things like fashion, faces, or hairstyle variation
( I want a new season soon pls...).

by Ryoko Kui
Read a couple of articles from the community, give them a like (and why not a sticker!), and write about what inspired you.
There are a lot of talented people in the community, this is a place where creativity and passion are very palpable. Each world I follow has some quality that I admire, and it's hard to me to do a list, but If I'd have to choose the worlds that are most inspiring to me, those definetely are:
Week 2
Think about current events that will impact the future. Who is working to create a specific kind of future?
Oh my god, this is such a hard question to answer, since my other world is basically Yeia 400 or 500 years into the future, but currently, the events that would shape the near future are , on one hand, the rising Blatian Empire, who after 300 years of conflict managed to unify almost all the Blatian realms and now it has its eyes fixed on the last one, the Empire of Cloudia. Ruled by the same dynasty than Blati, for centuries it has also stood as a bulwark of Blatian civilization against the barbarian hordes, but now, Blati's twin Empire founds itself into an steady decline, barely managing to survive, with a kid Emperor and power hungry officials, the new young Blatian emperor, Amadeus I is decided to incorporate Cloudia into his realm and proclaim Blati as the only one restorer of the Ikarian Empire, will he manage to achieve this, many believe he will.
On the other side of the Suris Strait, the Seris Empire has been in turmoil for the last century as Namru warlords became the de facto rulers of the realm, turning provinces into their feudal domains and forcing the Emperors to recognized their power in order to keep their throne. Only the north remained loyal to the Emperor either controled by the Elian League or under direct imperial control with governors loyal and appointed by the Emperor. This infighting might give an oportunity for the Seris Emperor Mithradates II to turn the tide and reunified the realm under imperial control mixing all traditions with the new Namru warlords reality. The Phoenix throne is not doomed yet, as the mythological creature, it may rise again!.
Peace between the Oronai kingdoms have prevailed for the last 50 years, but the new Kings of Oronia ambitioned expanding their kingdom and perhaps unified all the Oronai living north of the Thyssalis Sea, and that means annexing Sylvania. Will the other Oronai realms accept this new situation, or will the successors of Magas the Great Empire let loose the dogs of war again?.To the west, the
Kingdom of Wesdaland appears to have abandoned its claims to also control the
Elvish-Oronai Kingdoms, and it's now engaged in a war against its northern neighbor, Witharfia, for control of the central regions of the Twin Lake Plains.
Returning to Karia, among some Nari peoples there is a story of a famous captain who sailed east but never returned, many believe he and his crew perished at sea, others whisper that he found land on the other side of the sea populated by strange peoples, some with straight tall horns, a land shrouded in mystery and mysterious magical forces... who knows if that would be right?.
Make sure everything’s ready—from your writing space to your writing schedule—before Summer Camp begins!
My working space is ready! and as this event takes place during summer I'll probably have some iced coffee near me to fight the heat!. My schedule this year would be restricted to writing and drawing in the afternoons and evenings since I'll be quite busy during the morning for all of SummerCamp duration. Also my publication rate will vary depending on how many drawings I want to make and their complexity.
Who or what will help you achieve your goal? What will your sharing strategy be during Summer Camp?
Summer camp, as with any other WA challenge, is a time when all members of the community support each other. In particular the members of my chapter, my beloved cookies and the Storytellers Circle has been a great source of support in previous challenges., and I'm extremely thankful for that and I'm looking forward to read their creations and to support them until the challenge's end.
Its Deivi! So glad to see your pledge. I bring blessings from the desert for this years summer camp. May the prompts fall in your favor.
Thank youuuu Tyrdal!! Best wishes for you during this year's Summer Camp I can't wait to see what awesome areas of Aran'sha we'll visiting this year!. Like the Sun Elves 'd say... "May the Light of the Sun shine upon you...enlight your mind and give you tons of inspiration!"
