Inscription of Unhelmelese II at Phyriun
(...) The whole earth was emptied, no land could stand against their force, and then, like a whisper on the western wind, they were gone. Mighty Vanue, mistress of storms, shaker of the heavens!, we have closed the door in the north, and the invaders came no more. By Unhel's will, the civilized world survived, at least, for now.
Context and dating
For centuries, antiquarians have studied these famous inscriptions located on a ruined temple a couple of miles from the city of Phyriun, near the banks of the homonymous river also the northern desert. Who were those "invaders" the inscription speaks about? Many hypothesis have been made, one of them, followed by many scholars, included Farynn Almayz believed that this inscription dated to either the end of the 2nd Dynasty or the beginning of the 3rd Dynasty and that the "invaders" probably were a mysterious people called the "Shining people" or the "Crested" or "Horned" peoples that devastated part of the Northern Coasts of Karia between 2000-1800 BP. So this inscription would narrate the victory of a Sun Elf King against these mysterious invaders, probably not in Unhelion itself but probably in Adhel, then a Sun Elf vassal. But some scholars disagree with this hypothesis. Instead, they look at the style of the letters engraved in the inscription and concluded that, yes, it was from the Bronze Age, but from much later. For them, the most likely explanation or interpretation was that this was indeed an inscription to commemorate a military victory against some invaders, but these invaders wouldn't be the Horned people, but most likely Humans from the North. But they had been so many wars between Northern Humans and Sun Elves that dating this inscription to a single conflict was impossible, because half of the inscription were the name of the King and his titles as well as probably his portrait was missing. Well... it was missing until 238 BP when during the construction of a nearby irrigation canal, a very old relief was founded with the portrait of a king making an offering to the gods. these relief was actually the missing piece. So, with all the pieces, the puzzle was completed, and the mystery was solved. It was an inscription dedicated by King Unhelmelese II ( whose name means Loved by Unhel, the Sun God) the penultimate monarch of the 4th Dynasty, the last native Bathynerynn dynasty to rule over Unhelion, who, according to the chronicles and the lists of kings on the temples ruled from 1629 BP to 1481 BP. During his rule Northern Unhelion suffered the incursions of the Northern Humans, especially the region of Spearhead. The King defeated them at the battle of El Akr in 1511 BP expelling them from the country and capturing and slavering hundreds of them. After this victory, the northern humans wouldn't attempt another invasion of the country for the next 200 years. So, this inscription could be dated from around that time and after that conflict. Of course the "Door in the north" is the western pass near the Sun Mountains. And Vanue and Unhel, the gods that this inscription is dedicated to, are the Elven versions or equivalents of the Davidovian gods Zerah and Abbon Shabai. This inscription, made of granite, probably was either part of a wall of the temple complex where it was founded or the basement of an obelisk and it is also very important since it is, alongside another dedication in the Temple of Ahira, the only inscription dedicated by Unhelmelese II that survived into the present time, 2000 years after his rule.

I can almost imagine this article as an academic paper. I like that the mystery was eventually solved!
