Ilifenume, the friendly dragon
Snow Dragons are not immune to magic. In fact, one can "domesticate" one of these creatures by casting a "domestication" spell upon them, something not a lot of people can do. One of the most famous examples is Ilifenume ("Friendly Dragon" in classical elvish) a Snow dragon that was domesticated by king Arethen of Nythras, who became an important part of the community.
Origins
Legend says that he was either one of the dragon birds that was lurking around the interior galleries or around one of the entrances to the mountains capturing a killing some of the cattle stored there by the Nythrasias, the beast was formidable and no one dared to kill him aside of one person, it was none other than King Arethen of Nythras, a famous ruler who was both a very brave warrior and an expert connoisseur of the magical arts . He decided not to fight the snow dragon, instead he casted a Domestication spell that made the animal docile. From that moment on, the dragon was known as Ilifenume and was allowed to live in the city of Nythras. There, the animal enjoyed a variety of care and attention in exchange for helping the local inhabitants with various tasks. For example, Ilifenume helped the Nythrasians carry heavy materials like stone blocks or wooden logs, or transporting sick and wounded people, all in exchange for succulent food. They even entrusted the custody of their children to the dragon, who, in the event of an invasion, protected the children as if they were his own. In times of peace, he acted as a babysitter, maintaining order and preventing fights with one of his powerful and terrifying sounds; (Snow dragons, like the rest of the Dragon Birds, do not have the ability to roar, but the sounds they make can be equally intimidating).Death and aftermath
Sadly Ilifenume died aged 32, a very old age for such creature, its meat and organs were burned in an altar and offered to the gods, its feathers were fused together to form a luxurious cloak worn ever since by the kings of Nythras while its skeleton is displayed in the centre of Nythras as a tribute to "Nythras' "greatest" citizen", Not in vain, its skeleton meassures approximately 6 meters long and 2.5 meters high and also Ilifenume was a beloved member of the community since its arrival with the king. Ilifenume's mortal remains are the first thing the local Snow Elves show to foreigners and visitors as a source of pride and nostalgia. In the monument there a little plaque that reads:To Ilifenume, loyal friend, servant, caretaker, and the greatest inhabitant our city has ever had, now departs this world with our gratitude for his services. May the gods welcome him and watch over their Heavenly Abode forever.
Even friendlier than Puff the Magic Dragon...
