Lycanthropes

Lycanthropes are creatures who are cursed to be half sapient creature and half beast. Few lycanthropes can control their changes and non have control over their actions as a beast. The first lycanthropes were created by a Rakshasa, a fiendish tiger person, who wanted to create subservant tiger people from the populous of the city of Rousanage. The alchemical solution was imperfect and these people became barbaric beasts when they transformed, and this condition could be passed on through bodily fluids, such as a bite. The condition spread uncontrollably for a short time before a great culling and ostracisation of the survivors. The condition has leapt from tigers to a couple of other species such as wolves and jackals.
Some lycanthropes can blend into a hybrid form where their beastial nature appears through their appearance but they still control their actions. They make for good adventures and guards, and tend away from evil towards neutral in these cases.
