The House of Meirong

The House of Meirong had been a den of evil, long before her departure. After a fatal accident befell her late husband, her home became a business for the underside of society, something he had never agreed with. Opium flowed through the house. Gangs and desbuterters found refuge within her abode, for a small price. It was here that her children were raised, many not truly hers, as though they were her own. After her untimely death from a flesh-eating disease, the children took it upon themselves to find a cure for something no one had witnessed before. Perhaps their intentions may have been pure at the start, but how they gathered knowledge was wicked beyond measure. Unforgivable before the heavens. Pooling their resources, they hired several bands of mercenary swordsmen, luring them into fighting one another. The survivors were hunted down like beasts, skewered by spears under the cover of darkness. The weapons and supplies taken sold well enough to further their research. The local governments rewarded them for aiding in ridding the land of some of the mercenaries, many of whom were wanted criminals.

Using the funds, dozens more unsuspecting victims were lured into the seemingly abandoned shack. They bought flesh cheap, from contacts of their mother's former customers. It was believed that a Dwarf had been taken, alongside an Orc, both drugged and given herbal concoctions which killed several of their own kind. The experiments became fueled by the whispers on the wind, the voices of those who came before the Outsiders to corrupt mankind. It wasn't long until the eyes of Trel came upon them. Upon witnessing the desecration of the bodies of their kinsmen in such a place, the soldiers set the house alight. Two of the brothers perished within the flame, barred from escape by metal rods, by order of the Emperor's Judgement. Yet, some escaped that fate, vowing to return. Under dark skies, small fires illuminate the unfinished halls of that unhallowed home, flickering amidst the cries and moans.
