The Celestial Tongue
As the tinkling chimes that sound with an ethereal beauty, with the soft eastern wind, yet carried with the might of a thousand horses, the language of the heavens was once common throughout Trel. Sentences began and ended in the same tone, like a horseshoe. There was, long before the end, a time when wisdom was sought after. Enlightenment was far more precious than gold. A spoken word was more valuable than any border or treaty with death. Some have claimed that wonders blossomed with each utterance. Soothing sensations enveloped both the speaker and audience, as many had gathered to hear wisdom. Words of peace, prosperity, and mercy were taught and strived towards. Hope for a new age had begun.
Long before the Heavens fell and the Vampires ascended, the lands were graced with the Celestial Tongue. This, a language deemed too wondrous to be transcribed, became second nature to the sages and wizened men it appeared unto, those who sought isolation from the rest of the world. Meanings within life, the simple truths often overlooked, were revealed. Troubles seemed less important, as the people looked beyond the material world into something greater. Emissaries of gods came before them, appearing during the long hours of meditation, revealing hidden mysteries with only a few words.
Though few, these enlightened masters drew dozens into the Celestial Courts. Harnessing the strength found within gave room for those who struggled in the extensive schooling of the Trel, allowing for more to reap the benefits of what the Heavenly Emperor had begun. To speak was to heal, and those who became fully versed in the dialects would glow with radiant might. Monasteries flourished with heavenly wisdom, built to encompass the dreams of those who've been washed in glory. For a time, with the combined efforts of the schools and physical enlightenment, it felt as though the final gap between this world and the gods would be fully bridged.
It came as a surprise to many that this language, once associated with pacifism, returned to this world as the tongue of the Outsiders. Words that were unspoken to the mortals surprised them completely. Without knowing what many words mean, many phrases were given a negative double-meaning. Other words would be used to describe their opposite with very little invention. Peace was sought by the Trel. Unpeace, or Ill-peace, was harbored by their enemies towards them. It was odd for two seemingly opposite languages to be one.
