The Ömedian Cloak

From across the distant north, the Kjurvog summoned dozens of dying settlements under their new leadership, their banners filled with the strength of dozens of warrior cultures. Yet, few proved to be as vital as the Ömed. Gifted with the keys to Vampiric mastery, the Ömed were deemed too dangerous to be ignored, yet too important to be slain. Caught between two fates, the Ömed were kept closely guarded by those they served. Unlike the other cultures, they did not face assimilation, nor were they intermingled among the others. However, this was not to last. Permitted to retain their independence made them arrogant. So the stories claim, anyway, though this has been the center of many debates. Some argue that the gravity of the situation was far worse than any perceived displays of arrogance.

Guvyan, The First Vampire, became increasingly paranoid in those days. Separation from the gods plagued his mind. Accursed, reviled. The Ömed were summoned regularly, though none knew of their business until the treaty was signed between Trel and Kjurvog, etched into the chosen flesh of a son of Ömed. Further bodies, dozens at a time, were taken, imbued with the dark arcane knowledge hidden from everyone. Their children and their children's children are still under this curse today. Mirroring the curse they are blamed for bringing upon the Vampires, they are raised to be the living canvases and vessels of the secrets holding their Empire together.

Ömedian Cloaks are only permitted to be worn by those of that bloodline, which helps set them apart from the rest of the people. However, the term is used to describe any clothing that covers the majority of the skin or effectively hides personal treasures. Following the designs first used during the original excursion into the heart of Trel, these cloaks remain overtly long, with hoods covering the entirety of the face. Belts and straps have been added, making the cloak tighter and less prone to tripping the wearer during emergencies. The colors resemble those of their warband and Vampiric Master, though muted when compared to others of their sect and groups. Embroidery, along the back and the sleeves, allows the Vampires to determine if the wearer truly hides any truths upon their skin, or if they are one of many decoys.
