Flesh-Changers

A stalemate has emerged along the Southern peninsula, where the lands are divided between disgraced nobles of the Trel and a loose alliance of Gyveorn colonies united against a common enemy. There, the rules of warfare have been forgotten. Offers of surrender are ignored, and prisoners are seldom taken. The atrocities committed by both sides have reached the heavens, their wickedness a blight upon the honor both nations claim. There, in the mud and filth, their true faces are revealed. Without proper supplies from those they're representing, and fearing the repercussions of dragging the Trel into another war behind their Emperor's back, the Trel have been forced to remain on the defensive, hoping to lure the Gy'veorn into attacking their walled settlements. Likewise, the loose bands of the colonies have proven unreliable in the open fields, conflicts of leadership stalling any progress. Instead, both sides opt for brutal raids on unsuspecting villages and meek supply lines, engaging in a campaign of terror-filled attrition. The barbarity is done with the belief that their patrons will forgive any perceived slight to their honor, rewarding them greatly for weakening their rivals.

Composition

Manpower

Squads of twenty men will engulf themselves with the weakened spirits of the Outsiders, offering their mortal flesh to these forces in exchange for greater power, drinking the mixtures prepared by contacts within the Kjurvog. Changes overtake these vessels, the flesh corrupting as the Outsiders claim what is now theirs. Leathery wings, poisonous skin, enlarged teeth, and many other symptoms cause these volunteers to change form, fighting the fires of the Gy'veorn with fire.

Tactics

Blood-crazed lunatics fill the ranks of the Flesh-Changers, those who've welcomed this curse upon themselves. Depending on the changes offered by the Outsider they bond with, their bodies will adapt accordingly. This allows for them to be utilized in ways unfamiliar to their enemies. Though those of this rank seek death, many survive the initial skirmishes, remaining distant from their peers until called upon once again. There is only so much that the Balms can do.

Those who keep surviving are sometimes given additional mixtures, blending several Outsiders into one unholy being, gaining sentience within the confines of the body. These, twisted beyond recognition by several mutations, lead bands of others into desperate last stands and head-hunting excursions, fully released to fulfill their fates, and in doing so, may earn a place in the Emperor's domain.

Training

Flesh-Changers receive little training outside of what they've been taught as common soldiers. Those, however, who wish to join these ranks are found among the bloodiest of warriors, those without families, and those who've become desensitized by the horrors drug forth by the Gy'veorn.
