Prophecy of Xios
Caused by greed and envious man,
Plunged in war for generations,
Crippling the mother's land,
A curse on death brings destruction
A cross to those who take his side,
Salvation lies within the fragments,
Ten combined to turn the tide,
Land and strength to mirror in kind,
Once whole but now apart,
Combine again to have the strength,
And mend the people's heart,
Seek the curse with strength as one
And bring death's pain to an end,
Break the prison, plunge the world,
Complete the circle once again.
During the Great Circle Era, the god of knowledge Oghma was known as an oracle who was able to see into the future. He had a vision where the Great Circle was broken, caused by calamities and war brought upon by mankind. The vision foretold that it was not mankind's fault, but rather the work of Dispater, lord of the second level of Baaltor. Dispater wanted to take Xios for himself, and send one of his warlocks to Xios to create chaos and distruction.
The vision also showed that a group of heroes will restore the Great Circle to it's former glory and bring peace about the land of Xios. There were many obsticles in their way, but in the end they united the factions and fended off the threat of Dispater. In order to ensure that this happened, Oghma wrote down a prophecy knowing that he himself cannot change fate, but he can guide those who can. He entrusted the prophecy to one of the archangels he trusted most, Bruthius FateSeer. He gave the archangel instructions to seek out the heroes foretold and guide their journey to fullfilling the prophecy and saving the Great Circle before it was too late.
In order to fullfill the prophecy, the party must unite the factions of Xios as well as the Strength of Durim, and remove the curse placed upon Myrkul with the Strength of Durim.
