Eldinien Empire

"May Eldath Bless You."

| Waves from the Sea of Calamity crash into the western Spine of Xios before heading north towards Fortune's Forest. The tide is much calmer further north, where fishing boats are seen off the port of Ammerdon casting their nets for the day. The forest stretches east until it reaches Turtle Lake, where a large island is in the middle of this fresh water lake. Streams and rivers run south into the Eldinien Highlands, with its vast rolling hills and valleys. The water continues south into the Zylith Marshlands before running off the Eldinien Cliffs. Further east lies the Royal Plains, with its flat lands filled with towns, cities, and farmlands. The plains head into the Eldinien Cliffs, where it separates the Eldinien Empire from the Eyeless Desert. |
The Eldinien Empire is the largest nation in Xios, covering almost a third of the entire continent. Founded in 5BC (Before Calamities) by King Solhdir Eldinien, a man who brought a civilization together under one banner. He believed that man should have the power that belonged to the deities, and his goal was to make Eldinien an even better utopia than Elysium itself.

Demographics

Despite the calamities and wars causing hatred and segregation, a large variety of races live throughout Eldinien. For the most part the people tend to get along with each other, but with any large settlement with mass numbers comes a few bad apples.

Humans. The majority in Eldinien, most of the humans live in the Royal Plains, with a good portion living in Fortune's Forest and fewer in Eldinien Highlands.

Dwarves. Dwarven artisans are valued everywhere for their metalwork, so you're bound to find some dwarves wherever you go in Eldinien. Most dwarves tend to live either near the Spine of Xios, or the Eldinien Cliffs close to the dwarven homeland.

Half-Elves. The half-elves in Eldinien are mostly wood elves, living within Fortune's Forest or the Eldinien Highlands close to the Zylith Marshlands. A few high half-elf bloodlines live in the Royal Plains.

Gnomes. Most gnomes that live within the empire are here for progress, and live in cities or remote facilities within the Royal Fields. Some gnomes prefer solitude and live throughout Eldinien.

Halflings. After the giants left the Eldinien Highlands, the halflings moved in and quickly made use of the terrain. While the majority live within the highlands, there are some who choose to live among society.

Dragonborn. Very few dragonborn live within Eldinien. Those that do reside as royalty in the Royal Plains, or live seclucive in remote areas.

Elves. Few high elves live within the Royal Plains, while most woodland elves live within the forests of Eldinien.

Aarakocra & Owlin. The bird races tend to live in locations that have an established NXP, as that is their main occupation.

Note:
Though all races are tolerated, all religions are not. Those who worship any of the deities other than Eldath are frowned upon, and any who worship a deity from the Crucible of Blood are shunned upon and disliked by the people of Eldinien.

Government

Hierarchy

Eldinien is a monarch governed nation, with a king being the leader. He controls not only the Kingdom of Eldinien, but the Brynharde Battalion army as well, making Eldinien a force to be reckoned with. The king has an advisor with him, as well as a council to aid with affairs within the nation. The council consists of an infrastructure minister, treasurer, two generals, foreign affairs ambassador, and the CEOs of the MoM, IoA, MTI, and EMA making for a total of eleven people including the king and advisor.

Eldinien Laws

Eldinien laws are made by a royal decree from the king after a decision is made from a council meeting. They are enforced by both the local militia of municipalities, and the Kingdom of Eldinien faction. Courthouses are established in major cities, while the Grand Court is in the kingdom itself. To know more information on specific laws, please refer to the Eldinien Law Book.

Economy

The average Eldinien common folk can make a decent living wage of 5sp/day, and artisans can average up to 1gp/day. Military troops earn 8sp/day, and business owners as well as mastercraftsmen can earn up to 2gp/day. Nobles can range vastly from a duke earning around 75gp/mth to a king earning 200gp/mth (not including the kingdom income).

Taxes

Guilds and Factions

Factions

With the Eldinien Empire being such a large nation, the demand for two factions arose. The Kingdom of Eldinien was the primary faction, and a new secondary faction was formed called the Brynharde Battalion.

Guilds

Several guilds are well known and established throughout the land, from local to national.
National Xios Post (NXP). A union designed to deliver messages across the continent, this guild is mainly run by aarakocra and owlin.
National Craftsman Guild (NCG). The NCG was made to help those who wish to become an artisan.
National Guild of Merchants (NGM).
National Guild of Xios (NGX). Ammerdon Fishing Guild (AFG).
Eldinien Mining Association (EMA).
Dwarven Æther Mining Company (DÆM).
Magitec₭ Industries (MTI).

Geography

Despite the Eldinien Empire being one of the largest nations, the surrounding territories restrict access to only a few locations. The Eldinien Cliffs prevent access to the east except through the Crimson Gate, a massive fortified gate guarded by the Kingdom of Eldinien. The Athos Pleateau makes travelling north difficult, and only one path is available guarded by the giant tribes. Only a few know of the passage that leads through the Zylith Marshlands to the south of the spine, and the third calamity prevented travelling west along the Sea of Calamities, leaving the King's Road as the only viable travel route through the nation.

Fortune's Forest

This massive coniferous forest makes up half of Eldinien's territory in the northwest. The Conservation Treaty between the fey living within and the residents of Eldinien prevents any deforestation, allowing the forest to continue to thrive. The freshwater from Turtle Lake runs west down rivers providing freshwater for the forest, before emptying into the salty Sea of Calamity in the west. A lone mountain stands tall in the middle of the forest known as Shimmering Mountain.

Eldinien Highlands

Giants once roamed these rolling hills before they migrated to the Athos Plateau. After they left, the halflings made use of the terrain that was formed by the giants constantly walking on it. The hills from their way of life were a perfect foundation for the halflings to build homes in, and Bayleaf Hills was one of the first halfling towns established before booming into a large city. With the soil primed for agriculture from giants turning up the ground, Brynharde also made use of the land making vast farms with bountiful yields. Water coming down the rivers from Turtle Lake provide ample water for crops before going into the Zylith Marshlands. Being close to the marshlands did make travelling dangerous, but most folk knew to stay away.

Zylith Marshlands

A large wetland filled with swamps and deformed trees, only a few know how to navigate through the Zylith Marshlands. Once it used to be a beautiful forest filled with blossoming flowers and magestic creatures, but the second calamity turned it into a festering swamp filled with vile creatures and rotting plants. If that wasn't enough to deter travellers, the legend of Zylith the Witch living within the swamp left most commonfolk with a sleepless night just thinking about it.

Royal Plains

A vast flatland with canyons and woodlands, the Royal Plains is home to the majority of Eldiniens. Several towns and small cities along with the capital are scattered throughout, and forests are cut and replaced each year with the help of the kingdom. Turtle Lake provides water through rivers and streams passing through man-made aquaducts before making their way to the Eldinien Cliffs. The land is fertile for crops here, but not as good as the highlands.

Eldinien Cliffs

The cliffs that separate Eldinien from the Eyeless Desert excluding the Crimson Gate, the Eldinien Cliffs go down 300 feet before reaching the desert floor. The strong winds coming from the desert make it less than desirable to be close to the edge, and with sands blowing up covering the land, not much grows here except a few sparse bushes.

Turtle Lake

A key natural resource for Eldienien to have, Turtle Lake provides most of the freshwater for the nation. As it collects rainfall from the surrounding seas, it flows south before either reaching the Sea of Calamities or the Eldinien Cliffs where it runs off of waterfalls into the Eyeless Desert.

King's Road

The King's Road travels south from Eldinien's most northern populated town Ammerdon Outpost, to the grand city of Brynharde on the southern outskirts of the forest. From Brynharde it goes through the Eldinien Highlands to the Royal Plains, where it ends at the Kingdom of Eldinien. it takes 8 days at normal speed to travel the length of the road.

North Fork. A split going south after the village of Stiltsburrough.
South Fork. A split going north after Brynharde into Fortune's Forest.
No-Man's Road. A branch off the King's Road east of Oaksburg going heading south towards the Zylith Marshlands.
Spine Trail. A branch off No-Man's Road that leads to south of the Spine of Xios.
Turtle Road. A branch off the King's Road east of GrayBridge heading north past Turtle Lake towards the Athos Pleateau.
Crimson Road. A branch off the King's Road east of _______ heading south to the Crimson Gate.

Climate

Eldinien experiences the four seasons of the year: Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Summer can be as hot as 30°C, and winters as cold as -30°C. Rainfall is average, with the cliffs blocking off harsh winds from the the desert, and the spine blocking from the south. The weather has been mostly predictable, with the exception of some calamities and other unnatural phenomenons.

Natural Resources

Rivers from Turtle Lake stream throughout Eldinien ending up in various places and being utilized by the Eldiniens. Woodlands created and cut down in the Royal Plains provide wood for the eastern half of Eldinien, while the lumber provided from McScrute's Timber Mill provides wood for the western half. The Spine of Xios provides the metals and minerals needed for day to day life, and Brynharde is the number one extraction source. Crops and cattle from the farms of the Eldinien Highlands and Royal Plains, plenty of fish from Turtle Lake, and the bountiful creatures to hunt for throughout the nation provide ample sources of food for the people.
